Like An Avalanche

Summary

What happens when you meet the right person at the wrong time? This is what happens in this story, the protagonist meets her soulmate in the most difficult period of her life. He, despite the many difficulties, remains close to her but she is like an avalanche. It is a mass of snow that, detached from the top of a slope and rolling downwards, takes on ever greater dimensions dragging, submerging and destroying what it encounters along its path. It is up to you to find out whether there will be a happy ending or it will end in tragedy.

Prologue

We demand too much from our parents because, being parents, we think everything is owed to us.

There are different types of parents, those who show their love in words and those who show it through actions. Mine, however, was not in either category but there was a reason for that.

I thought they hated me for who knows what reason but the truth was very different. Maybe if they had told me I would have reacted differently, probably I would have been the daughter they had always wanted but been unaware of the reason, I turned into their greatest shame. I had treated them badly, I had judged them when in reality, every time they looked at me, they remembered a bad period in their lives.

Not knowing the secret they were keeping from me, I thought the best thing was to get revenge for all the wrongs done to me by them and my foster brother. To create a mess in their wonderful life, to destroy little by little the clean image of the Hale family.

And I’ve done it in the worst ways.

Maureen: I liked how the author described how the characters were feeling. How there decisions and actions were influenced. This story would be a great movie, though I'm not sure how a movie could portray the emotions and inner thoughts of he characters as well as this story has.
