Chapter 1

The light shining through the window is what disturbed my sleep first, A hand on my shoulder squeezing lightly was the second thing to wake me up. I slowly opened my eyes to see the pine tree whizzing by the window, we were heading to our new home.

“We’re almost there.” His voice rumbled as he removed his hand from my shoulder and back on the stirring wheel. I was sixteen years old, and Alfred Connor was my step farther. We were having a fresh start with this move.

“Sorry I feel asleep.” I looked over to him, He was tall at 6ft 10, short black hair. No facial hair, he was toned with a little muscle. He had electric blue eyes and natural light pink lips. He married my mother when I was 9, My farther had passed away when I was three, my mother passed away a little over two weeks ago.

“No worries, the doctor said you needed your rest.” He looked at me from the corner of his eye as he kept driving. “Sit back and relax.” I had recently come out of the hospital after a Migrainous infarction that caused me to stroke. So Alfred Decided we needed to get away from the City where all three stress was… where my mother was.

I had agreed, I had no ties there anymore. No friends. I had never been very good at making friends. I was excited though. Since the hospitalisation I had been having these vivid dreams of a girl. She had the longest white hair I had ever seen; her eyes were as crimson as fresh blood itself. Her skin traced her bones, I never get close enough to touch her, she calls my name before a blood curdling scream erupts.

Pain erupted behind my eyes and my body grew hot and ichy as I felt the acidic vile begin in my chest and crawl up my throat. I opened a window to allow the winters air to cool me down. “Lillian closes the window please.” I could hear him, but his words didn’t register, he grabbed my arm shaking me a little so I would look at him. “Window. Close it.”

“It’s helping with my migraine.” I murmured leaning out the window and focused on my breathing. He looked at me concerned and let go allowing me to keep the window opened. The longer we staid in the car the worse I felt, my breathes became pants as I waited for the car to stop. I tried to think about school tomorrow but that only made the feeling worse.

“We’re here.” He mutters parking the car, I shot out and vomited behind the car instantly feeling a little better. Heading back to the car I took out my medication downing a bottle of water before I looked at the clock that read 6:00am. We pulled up outside a large white house. It was detached but we have a Neighbour either side, to our right another white home and to our left a brick home that was smaller but looked beautiful. Unlike ours the home had a decorated front garden.

Gardening was never a hobby of mine, I preferred to bind books. Recreating the covered and painting the edges before reading. I stretched my legs and the moving van pulled up behind us. “shouldn’t we wait? We could wake the neighbours?” Alfred looked at me then both the house before scurrying off to the van, I walked over to the van to help as they started unload the furniture and boxes. He looked at me, he looked up and down my body and then back into my eyes with a face full of concern.

“We spoke to the neighbours to make them aware they were fine with it. Are you going to be okay to move things?” I nodded and began to take the first box inside, the door to the left opened and shut and a boy popped out. He was small with longish brown hair, wore three silver bracelets on his right arm. His red shirt was no buttoned up to the top and he had light washed out baggy jeans.

“Morning neighbours, I’m Jamison. Do you want some help?” I looked at Alfred, he hesitated and then nodded to me.

“Hi there, my name is Lillian. I would love the help.” He wore a large grin and came running down his porch steps. He grabbed a pebble off the floor and hit one of his windows with a light tap before running to the van to help Alfred with his bed.

When I next looked at the clock it was 15:00pm, the house was finally sorted out. With the help of the moving van guys and Jamison the house finally looked like a home. An arm slung around my shoulder and I looked at him, his name is Jamison Red. He is 5 inched taller than me at 5ft 5 he has brown eyes and a button nose. Jamison lives with his grandmother everyone calls Nana Red, a knock on the front door made me and Jamison jump.

“Who are you?” I heard Alfred; his voice grumbled lowly tired form the day’s work. Me and Jamison make it to the bottom of the stairs when Jamison yells.

“Bruce! You made it, Lillian, and Alfred. Meet my twin, Bruce. Bruce this is Alfred and his daughter Lillian; Lillian will be joining us at school tomorrow.” Alfred held a hand-out to Bruce.

Jamison had told me about him: Bruce Red stands at 6ft 11 with Alfred. Dye silver hair tied up into a ponytail and deep blue eyes. Thomas shook Alfred’s hand but eyes never leaving my own.

“Jamison, nana Red had requested you bring Lillian and Alfred over for dinner.” I saw Alfred starting to object the offer but before he could Jamison grabbed my hand and started pulling me to the front door.

“Of course, Come on. Let’s not keep Nana waiting-” Jamison turned around and looked at Alfred . “- she won’t bite I promise and I’m sure you nor Lillian wants to cook after a full day and night of Moving.” Alfred looked at me and then back a Jamison, he didn’t like the idea, but he nodded and grabbed the house key form the Table beside our front door.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters.
