There is Nothing Funny About Murder

From the time Private Detective TJ Scobie is unwittingly involved with two family deaths originally deemed to be suicides and appearing to have reasons associated with the pornographic film industry of forty years ago, his dubious expertise is challenged .Not an unusual experience for TJ.

Similarly these family related deaths have the team of Detectives at City Homicide seriously perplexed by the twists and turns the cases take. Detective Inspector Fabian doesn’t let this interrupt his cynical, sarcastic and often humorous approach to members of his team, TJ Scobie, or to the many suspects. A third death, as well as being linked to the same family, at first glance also appears to be suicide. The method is the same in each case, a shot to the head, all victims have gunshot residue on their hands, yet the Coroner has good reason to dismiss what appears obvious, there is no weapon at any of the crime scenes. The past from nearly forty years ago, in the pornographic film industry, will haunt several of the protagonists including DI Fabian and Supreme Court Judge Judith Mellion. Doubtful parentage suggests the end game may be all about money. But is it really? Casino owner Romero Dubois, his daughters Svetlana and Polly all become closely involved with the cases. It is often said it is a wise person who knows their own father.

Detective Sergeants Rachel King, Terry Terrence, Eric Trimble Don Whittle and Tom Wane all have their moments of glory in searching for answers.
