The Teapot
I’ve been a lot of things in my life but I really want to be a teapot.
To create warmth and comfort in you while you handle me delicately and with care.
I yearn to feel hands on my body, cradling my weight.
Never raising me higher than I need to be but at the moment you need me most.
To be craved during times of great stress and times of connection.
Pouring me into vessels of safety to be used to keep you satisfied.
Take me in your hands and fill me with your coldness so I can grant you peace.
Exchange my utility with your desire to be nourished.
Add your desired amounts of substance and grace so I may be perfect.
I will keep your secrets and darkness and hide it with my light.
And when you are content, wash over me with a cleanliness of purpose.
Parade me on a shelf as a reminder that I will always be there until you need me next.
Watching over you, forever by your side.
Never wandering, never lost, never questioned.
