Prologue
I watched it all burn down. My home, my city, everything. They didn’t leave anything or anyone untouched. The fire wasn’t visible anymore, only the large dark cloud of doom that lingered over the remains of my beloved hometown as we were sailing away. The tears have all dried up and there was none left to shed. What would be the point? It was all gone. My life would never be the same.
I hardly protested as someone took my now tied hands and led me to the back of the ship. I stopped fighting after I stopped hearing the cries of my family. I just stared out of the ship, until I couldn’t see anything anymore. Would I ever see the blue waters of my home again? Tied to a post in a strange ship wasn’t something I ever thought would happen to me.
It felt like time stood still. Water hit the side of the ship as it sailed smoothly out to sea. Maybe I’ll wake up and it would all have been a dream. I didn’t see any other prisoners. Just the men rowing to the beat of a drum. With my clothes all ripped to shreds and my armour long gone, I tried to cover myself the best I could, but strangely enough, no one was even looking at me.
Sleep slowly took over as I was huddled in my corner of the ship. My only thought “why couldn’t they just kill me already.” Why make me suffer like this, knowing everyone and everything I ever loved was now gone. Burned to ashes.
This is my first submission, yeah! English is my second language and I’ll do editing as I go along. So don’t be rude, play nice.
