AURUM AND ARGENTUM
Long time ago, in the Luna Empire, there lived an emperor who had strong adoration of having children. As an emperor, it was must for him to have an heir but since his beloved wife who was the empress got poisoned, she could never have a child. Those were the words of herbalists that proved to be wrong because the empress gave birth to two heirs of the Luna Family. Since the birth of these boys had too much significance in the empire, they were named Aurum and Argentum meaning gold and silver. Argentum was a weak boy and couldn’t survive for a long time. He died at the age of three months while Aurum got a long life.
Aurum was highly educated and trained in many ways. He got the astonishing looks from his mother and strength from his father. His eyes were deep and as blue as the sky. He was admired by the whole empire.
Things were going fine as long as there was no war. One day the emperor fell seriously ill and the empress was not in a condition to run the affairs of the empire. Aurum, who was eighteen years old, had to take the responsibilities as a crown prince. Many empires had their sight on the Luna Empire. One of the empire that was popular for invasion, secretly sent it’s female agent to the Empire of Luna.
It was early in the morning when the empress passed away. Whole empire was covered in the weather of gloom because empress was very generous and considerate. Prince Aurum, after hearing the news, came running to see his mother but she was buried already.
When Prince Aurum couldn’t bear the pain anymore, he met Zilaya. Due to Zilaya’s purity and the abominated time, crown prince couldn’t help but fall head over heels for her. He was unaware of the fact that Zilaya is the agent sent from Wren Empire.
It was night and the Prince was in his chamber, thinking about the memories related to his mother. He looked at the moon.
" Mother, to think they’ll bury you without my presence, it crushes my heart,” he said to himself.
Someone knocked on the door.
Aurum asked,” Who are you? What business you may have at a time like this?”
The person replied,” I’m supposed to be serving your majesty, starting from today!”
“Then you shall enter.”
“It’s nice to meet your highness! I’m Zilaya,” she said as she entered.”
Zilaya was wearing silver dress that was shining in the moon light, her hazel eyes were reflecting his majesty’s image, her voice was as sweet as honey, her procelain skin, red lips like a pomegranate and black hair were the proof of her beauty. She was very well mannered and shy. Her existence seemed like of an angel.
“I never thought a person would come to my chamber that late at night...”
“I apologize for my rude behaviour, your majesty.”
“If there is nothing else, you may leave...”
“Sure, your majesty!”
She left the chamber.
“Her behaviour changed so quickly, it’s as if she was forced to overcome her nature,” he said to himself.
In the morning, there was a completely changed atmosphere in the palace. Everyone was busy in their work. Zilaya was the one with unique nature and looks. She was sitting and observing the people passing by.
In the Luna Empire, the girls with blonde hair were supposed to be beautiful therefore Zilaya’s beautiful features were nothing for them. She was a silent type of girl who never showed her worries. She was mysterious. A person could tell that she’s not a lowly slave but a noble. She, by her excuses covered her dark secret.
“Zilaya, since you’re the new attendant of Prince Aurum, you’re supposed to be with him in the hunting competition,” said one of the prince’s knight.
“Sure,” this small word was all Zilaya would say.
During the whole journey, she was walking behind the prince’s horse thinking that’s what a slave is supposed to be. Prince Aurum didn’t even know he was accompanied by Zilaya. Zilaya was weak and fragile. She couldn’t endure it any more and ended up fainting due to the rays of sun and cruel thirst.
As Prince Aurum acknowledged the scenario he felt guilty for not knowing Zilaya was giving company to him.
He said, ” Zilaya... You could’ve let me know this”
He picked her up and made her sit on his horse in a way that she was leaning on him. Zilaya’s hair was fluttering due to the breeze. Prince Aurum could smell the fragrance of her hair.
Now, Zilaya was in the care of Prince Aurum’s personal herbalist while Prince Aurum was busy hunting the beasts. When Zilaya came to her senses, she found herself lying on a bedding.
“Your beauty reminds me of luna. You’re a foreigner but your looks say that you’re the empress of this empire,” said the herbalist.
“From your looks, I can tell you’re a herbalist,” replied Zilaya.
“Is this all you’re supposed to say?”
“A mere slave like me has no other reply for that”
“A slave you say?”
After hearing this statement, the herbalist was quite in a shock.
“Yes, I’m a slave who was imprisoned after the Luna Empire invaded Fire Empire.”
Prince Aurum won the competition due to his great skills. He came to see Zilaya.
“Zilaya are you fine?”
“Yes I’m fine. It’s all thanks to his majesty!”
She bowed to him.
“Lift your head”
“My apologies!”
He extended his hand for Zilaya to get up.
“Your majesty, you don’t have to extend your hand for a lowly slave like me...”
“Equality and justice are all I know”
“I apologize for my rude behaviour...”
