Chapter 1 - Welcome to Unibond..
Every morning, I would wake up at 6:00 am to the delightful melodies of birds serenading me from outside my bedroom window. As I peered out, I was met with a stunning view of our garden, filled with majestic fruit trees, brilliant flowers, and a lush green lawn that spanned nearly 60 meters. Our family enjoyed a peaceful life in the countryside, where neighbors were few and far between.
The moment I woke up, a rush of endorphins sent me bouncing out of bed, brimming with energy. I chose to kick off my day with a refreshing naked workout, relishing the invigorating sensation it brought. Afterward, I settled into a warm and soothing bubble bath, indulging in the latest global news on my smartphone. The warm water embraced me like a comforting hug, creating a tranquil atmosphere in the bathroom. As steam wafted gently through the air, I dove into the fascinating world of current affairs, eagerly accessing a treasure trove of information. With each swipe of my screen, I continued to unravel the intricate patterns of global events, gaining insights into everything from political shifts to groundbreaking scientific breakthroughs, all while savoring the chance to broaden my understanding of the world around me.
While much of the news on social media felt mundane, occasionally, I would stumble upon an intriguing article that expanded my horizons. Just then, I heard heavy footsteps approaching the bathroom door, followed by insistent knocking. “Hey, are you finished in there?”
My father's frustrated voice broke through, and I assured him I would be out in no time. After quickly getting dressed, I opened the door, only to find my father rushing into the bathroom and slamming the door behind him with urgency.
The delicious aroma of my mother’s cooking wafted upstairs—it appeared she was preparing a traditional English breakfast, complete with sausages, eggs, beans, and toast. She flashed me a warm smile when I entered the kitchen and handed me a steaming plate of food. I settled onto a stool at the breakfast counter and began to eat. Moments later, my father entered, his expression showing signs of irritation.
Being an only child has often felt isolating. As I approached my 18th birthday—just days away—I couldn’t shake the feeling of loneliness that often crept in. Although there’s excitement that comes with adulthood, I found myself longing for the companionship that a sibling might have provided. Nevertheless, I learned to navigate life’s challenges independently, cultivating a sense of self-reliance and resilience that has stood me in good stead. While there were hurdles to face being the sole child in the family, it undeniably shaped me into the adaptable and resourceful person I’ve become.
My parents embraced the idea that I would study abroad for at least six years, and I had my sights set on Unibond in Holland. From all the information I had gathered and positive reviews, it seemed like a fantastic choice. Since I lived in England, this meant I would be flying over for my education.
I was buzzing with excitement at the thought of escaping my parents’ watchful gaze, yearning for a taste of the freedom that had eluded me for so long. Imagining breaking free from their protective arms felt liberating, like a caged bird finally realizing it could soar through the skies. With each passing day, I found myself one step closer to leaving the familiar comforts of home behind and embarking on an adventure of self-discovery. The anticipation churned within me, fueling my dreams and igniting a fire of independence that burned brightly in my heart. I longed to discover the world beyond the sheltered confines of my upbringing, to embrace thrilling adventures and carve my own path. The countdown to my liberation was ever-present in my mind, each moment a gentle reminder of the freedom that awaited me. And when the day finally came, standing at the threshold of this exciting new chapter, I felt a mix of eagerness and nerves, along with deep gratitude for the opportunities that lay ahead. With lessons from my past in mind, I stepped confidently into the unknown.
My parents drove me to the airport in the early afternoon where I said my heartfelt goodbyes. After a short flight, I found myself in Holland, picking up my suitcase and making my way to the exit. There, a driver was waiting for me, holding a sign with my name.
I couldn’t help but notice the driver—a well-dressed man in his fifties, exuding sophistication. His sharp suit and polished shoes highlighted his impeccable taste, and his rich, deep voice commanded attention. Every word he spoke seemed to carry weight and authority, painting a picture of a man with confidence and experience.
The drive from the airport to school felt never-ending as I gazed out the bus window, taking in the beautiful scenery. Holland appeared far more picturesque than England, and the warmer weather added to the charm.
As we approached the school, the driver entered a code on a panel, unlocking the massive gates. They swung open to reveal a breathtaking array of buildings—some towering like high-rises while others resembled quaint farmhouses. In total, there were 65 structures.
The driver halted just outside the main entrance, and I gathered my suitcase while stepping off the bus. Upon entering, I was greeted by the headmistress, who wore a big, welcoming smile.
“Good morning, Natalie! How was your flight?”
I smiled back, replying that it was great. The first thing that caught my attention was her impeccable fashion sense—a stunning black latex dress that hugged her figure perfectly, cinched with an eye-catching red belt around her waist.
The boldness of her outfit radiated confidence and sophistication, ensuring she stood out in the crowd. It was clear that she had a flair for fashion, and her choice helped set the tone for my exciting new adventure.
