Chapter 1
“I can’t believe it’s been almost 8 years already”. After this week there’s no more time for slacking off or playing games!
I yelled into my phone to my best friend who was Innocently listening on the other end.
“Always in such a rush Mara”. “You need to learn to step back and take a breath once in a while”. My best friend chimed in.
Bianca and I have been best friends ever since I moved to the states almost 8 years ago. Her calm, easy going attitude is the perfect balance to my all over the place, got to get it done now personality. She’s a gorgeous blond hair, emerald eyed , tan, slim drink of water. While I am a blue eyed, raven black hair, tan, slim drink of red wine.
Meaning we are completely different in all the right ways. We are both part of the Hera grey pack, the only pack in the last 150 years to have a female Alpha.
Bianca lived inside the pack lands while my father felt it was better for us to live on the country side.
We are technically still on pack grounds just on the borders of it. It sucks being so far from everyone, however it does make it easy for my dad to keep eye on the border, him being the Beta and all. His job was the second most important in the pack. The first obviously being the Alpha.
Ive always followed somewhat in my father’s footsteps, the only difference was I had the attitude of my mother. I never stopped what I was doing until it was finished or perfected, which I guess isn’t such a bad trait to have.
I’ve been training with the other warriors now for the past 5 years, I’ve quickly moved up in rank seeing as I started at a 1 and am now at a 9.5. Once I turn 18 I’ll have my last evaluation and be ranked a 10 and be one of the best fighting warriors in the whole pack.
I’m very well known in my pack not only for my rank but because I am the betas only daughter, and only child in general, that meaning when it’s time for my father to step down I will fulfill his place as beta of the pack and Alpha Grace’s son Oden will take his place as alpha. Oden and I have always gotten along great since I’ve moved to the area. So much so that his mom hopes we will be mated to each other, just like I he has yet to turn 18. Our birthdays are just 2 days apart, and I’m nervous that my mate won’t be him and that I’ll never find them. Oden has never been to open about his opinion on mates and being the to be alpha.
He knows what his duty to the pack is and he’s very responsible when it comes to it. I’ve always admired his way of never showing how he feels through his face or actions.
Oden was a very handsome man, his warm auburn hair and dark eyes were the perfect match for his fair skin. He was tall, and well fitted, he had a charm many people couldn’t resist.
