Her
It was yesterday I saw her.
A woman bearing much the same visage
As my late mother.
I was surrounded by others,
But at that moment she was alone in my eyes.
Claiming no relation to me,
She stood unawares of my pain.
What had been in the past was now present.
As were the tears I had thought had been gone.
All else faded till it was just she.
It was then that I cried.
Yearning for her impossible return.
The chance to hear her voice.
The chance to hug her one last time.
To tell her I love her.
To tell her goodbye.
But that was not her.
She was but a mother to another man.
