Demetrius - Cursed with the scent of his slain victims for eternity. He must atone for his sin by saving 1,000,000 human souls. He is an ancient soul and has learned to have no love of humanity or its technology.
Harper Kent - A capable woman whose parents died when she was young, leaving her to fend for herself for most of her life. She knew nothing but struggle until recently when a con job got her a high-paying salary and benefits she couldn’t resist. Harper is resourceful, spirited, and fierce. She can handle herself but doesn’t mind strong arms carrying her to safety either.
Atticus - A long-time acquaintance of Demetrius. He is intelligent, sophisticated, and relishes humans and their ever-evolving society. He is well-dressed and stays current, a smooth talker, and is exceedingly brilliant.
Bartholomew - Bookish and scholarly. He loves poetry and entertaining those around him.
Konstantin - A quiet who harbors secret affections for Demetrius. He is good with his hands, building and tools, and craftsmanship. However, he has not come to terms with his sexuality, even after several hundred years.
Arianna - Beautiful, boisterous, and full of attitude. She hails from Latin America and is known for her fiery, sometimes flirty nature. She is secretly in love with Bartholomew.
Bekka - One of the first to be cursed. She is older than everyone else, and her age shows in her eyes, if not her skin. However, Bekka is not one to flout emotions or give in to impulses. She is part of the brethren but has always maintained her own agenda. She knows how fickle the world can be and how easy it is for structures, civilizations, and friendships to fall.
Granger - Tech-savvy with a chipper personality. He lives for computers, is more tech-forward than Atticus, and uses his skills to help the brethren. In his downtime, he plays several online games and runs blogs and social media pages. He is never seen without a wire sticking out of somewhere, headphones, a microphone, or a charging cable.
Colm Lynch - A zealot of the goddess Ceridwen. He has been obsessed with meeting her and gaining her favor since meeting Harper’s parents before her birth.
