Chapter 1 A place In our hearts
This poem was written from the heart because I am an immigrant from different culture. In my country, there are not a lot of opportunities like free Education or enough opportunities to find what makes you happy. So I started asking myself why is so hard to find our way with the culture that our families taught us. Why do we feel lost and alone in it?
Somewhere
Everyone is born somewhere.
Somewhere !!
A hot place.
A cold place.
A place where the government opens doors for its nation to grow
A place where the government has limited resources.
Somewhere!!
But still, try hard to make it better by bringing other nations together
Somewhere!!
A place full of endless violence
A place where education is not a priority and limited
Somewhere!!
Everyone is born into a culture
A culture that differentiates you and me from one another.
A culture that shapes our individuality and views
A culture that teaches us that happiness comes from what we love
It is a culture that teaches us that dreams can come true when you put your heart and soul into them.
Somewhere !!
If we are all born in this world without choosing where we come from or culture
We still doubt the place we were born into
Where do we belong?
Will I be enough if I stay here?
Somewhere !!
Because you never feel you belong in the place you were born
You step into a brand new place where you can find where you belong
Where you are accepted for who you are
Somewhere
Everyone is born someplace
But we are still searching for our home belongings
Time
As Time goes by the clock
I start to notice some changes between you and me
Changes that I never seem to care about until now
We used to be a team.
Talking all day about our goals and dreams
As time passes by like the wind on winter’s day
Our appreciation for the people who tried to help us will be forgotten
As the clock ticks away by a second
We ask ourselves how much time do we have
As time goes by we get older
We question desires and destiny
As time goes by
We wish we could stop time and go back in time to fix our mistakes
To fix the corrupt relationship we have
To fix every broken heart and glass that fell on our shoulders
As time walks away, you distanced yourself like you stop loving me
As time goes by I didn’t fight for you to stay one more day
I didn’t fight to fix mistakes I made in the footprint
I keep missing you as time goes by.
