Prologue

"Isabella Strauss, please marry me!"

I almost spitted my coffee when the guy in front of me suddenly drops on one knee.

I turned to the people who bats an eye to us as quick as a vulture eyeing for a prey. We were in a mall! In a coffee shop, I was silently having my coffee while reading a book when suddenly, a man in a black three-piece suit drops on one knee and held a velvety red box with a diamond ring in it.

Confusion wasn't the right word to describe my expression right now, neither perplexity, I'm more terrified and shock and embarassed from all the people watching us.

I lowered my gaze to the man and gave him a glare.

"What the hell are you doing? Do I know you?" I whisphered and gritted my teeth, so as to not make more embarassing moments or give the man a taste of his own medicine.

I mean, he knew my name, he said it correctly. Isabella Strauss, that's my full name and I'm a graduating student with an English major. I guess my name wasn't that ignored as I thought it was?

"No, but please say yes."

My forehead was like a crumpled paper that grew a big question mark on top. The hell was in this guy?

"Dude, I don't know you," I repeated, emphasizing every word. I was prompted to take my book and handbag with me and leave but looking at the man who has an innocent face, droopy eyes, and sharp jaw that was still on his knee, offering his box and all the expectators silently watching us made me hesitate.

As I said, I dont want him to have any more embarassment from this people. It's fine by me if I was the only one he embarassed. At least then, I would be the only one who knows his secret, I could keep it for as long as he wanted.

"Yes, and I want to marry you. Please?" he said the last word he said it like he's a child begging for his mother to buy him the bag of candy he holds and that he won't leave it until I accepted.

"Are you insane?" I lowered my head over to him and breathed the words. I can hear people having doubts if this would be a failed proposal or not.

Of course it would! I don't even know the guy!

But in my twenty-three years of existence, I never thought I could change my mind that quick when I lowered my head to see his face clearly.

It was abrupt,

Messy

I said "yes".
