Chapter 1
Molly Wilson woke up to the heat of the scorching sun. She had overslept, since the music from the village’s feast had kept her up all night. Molly was a good christian girl, so she didn’t care too much about sneaking out to peek at the adults, boogying down in the old school hall.
She sat up on her fiber mattress and began to contemplate on what adventure she would go on today. The villagers considered her to be a crazy dreamer, but Molly knew in her heart of hearts that one day she would make it big in life.
She could hear a muffled conversation taking place in her grandmother’s bedroom. Molly removed the cloth which was blocking the small hole next to her bed and began to eavesdrop. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing! How could her grandmother be so cruel? After all the misery she had endured as a child, her grandmother was about to return her to that wretched place?
With tears streaming down her cheeks, she decided to run away from home. Anywhere else would be better than returning to her granduncle’s house. Oh, how she missed her dearly departed mother. If she were alive, all this would not be happening.
Molly decided to move wisley. After having breakfast she waited until her grandmother had gone to the shop and made her escape. She had no idea of her destination. There were barely any villagers near the road, so this made it easier for her to slip out of the community.
After walking for almost an hour, she spotted what appeared to be an abandoned hut, nestled behind a clump of trees. Molly was a courageous girl, so she decided to take refuge there for a few hours. Battered by the sweltering weather, Molly fell asleep on a blanket which was draped over an iron table.
