Chapter 1
Stephanie was a cautious yet curious girl. She has been living in Quartz City for 18 years and was due for her quartz-ship. The quartz-ship was a tradition in which all the citizens who have turned adulthood age of 18 would be required an assigned a role that provided to the city. The roles may include a wall guard, a mage, a maiden or a Valkyrie if she was deemed righteous.
Valkyries are the highest women led soldier role. The hardest role to be in Quartz city. Only the best candidates where enlisted. Valkyries are trained to be the best soldiers under an vigorous training and work. There were only 8 Valkyries that guarded the city and kept the faes safe from the daemons that lurked in front of the large quartz city walls. What lived inside the walls, was centuries of tranquility.
The daemons have caused Havoc to quartz city and it’s neighbouring cities; diamond city, emerald city and Ruby city. Over several centuries, countless lives have been taken. Daemons have plagued the outskirts of of the city walls. Many citizens have disappeared. Many not to be heard again. Some come back with vivid stories to tell.
Daemons are gruesome blood thirsty dark angels who kill any being on site. They do not possess empathy or emotion. They are beings that were trained for blood and only blood. Daemons are much larger than faes, about twice the size. Their skin is pale with large wings enclosed in their shoulder blades, one swipe of a wing will leave you poisoned with daemon black flame. Like a fiery flame but cursed with a rot that leaves the body with a black scar. An agonising burn.
Daemons were once friendly people until their dark queen Liane, gained power over the throne. She marched with the highest daemon army to eradicate the fae race and take charge the of the 4 gem cities. Largest being the quartz city, then diamond emerald and Ruby city. Fortunately, the 4 gem cities got word before the daemon attack and where able to cast the crystal forcefield around the cities and avoid a catastrophic attack. Still with a heavy casualty and half burned buildings and homes. The 4 gem cities were able to rebuild, stronger and faster than ever before. With fast technology and magic wielding abilities. But that was the same with the daemon kingdom.
Stephanie has all ways dreamed to be a Valkyrie. Her mother was a Valkyrie. And so was her grandmother. Valkyrie candidates were often blood related as their ancestors were courageous and brave. It was now only up to Stephanie to show quartz city who she really was and how she can change the war between faes and daemons.
