A Magical Read
"The first two chapters of Lies and Labyrinths have me hooked! This coming of age of a young woman who wants to escape the drab life that she was born into is a great read. The prospect of a school of magic is one that has been done many times, but rather than having a character who is magically gifted or adept, the protagonist smooth talks her way in and relies on her cunning rather than talent. I'm excited to see where it goes and to find out just how far Lilith Lavoi can get using only her wits. A deeper look into the systems of magic and how they work is also an exciting prospect!"
You're Not a Wizard, Lilith!
"So far, Lies & Labyrinths is a clever retelling of the youth-meets-magic trope and delivers some fresh air of wit and fourth-wall-breaking that this genre didn't know it needed. Lilith La-VWAH, a name that will surely be remembered by the esteemed, if enignmatic Veilweavers for centuries, fibs her way into a world of fantastical magic and mystery that just might inundate her... Or will she be the one to inundate the world? NV Ozmus does a wonderful job of hooking the reader in the first chapters with her humorous narration, repartee dialogue, and a not-so-subtle breaking down of the tired archetypes of the past. I also really enjoy how she separates the otherwise dreary exposition dumps into intelligent, in-character footnotes, as if we're reading the scribblings of the narrator post facto, adding additional flavor to the world and its characters. I highly recommend adding this story to your Inkitt reading list."
Captivating and authentic voice
"I loved the first two chapters of Lies & Labyrinths. The premise drew me right in, and Lilith's voice is authentic, precocious, and tangible. Can't wait to read more!"
