Epilogue
*CRACKLE**CRACKLE*
I was sitting on the log of a tree that I had cut while making the camp earlier. People would be thinking that I was keeping guard while looking at the fire that was in front of me. But my heart was in turmoil as I was looking past the fire at the flickering blue portal that I and Beo(Beowolf) found while we were chasing down the prey.
But what had shaken me, even more, was the system panel that I had received the instant my eyes landed on the portal:
*Final Quest*
*Enter the portal and return to Earth*
*Rewards: ??? *
I had thought it over and over and all that I and my past memory recollections had in common were my blurry memories of Earth. I couldn’t even remember my name, but something was nudging me towards it. A feeling that there was where I belonged. Moreover, the rewards were unknown, which could be quite good, as only dungeons gave such rewards.
I was conflicted. I wanted to return to Earth, I wanted to know who I was that even the System wouldn’t reveal it, even though I had a name, Alde. But... what about this world? I didn’t have that many feelings for the people here, and the most that I did was some shopping in a few towns. the rest of the time was spent camping with Beo in the Eternal Night Forest.
Right, Beo. I had Beo. What a fool I was. But my heart was starting to hurt when I was remembering Gloomy Wolf’memories. They were the most recent that I had obtained from the system. While I did receive an answer to why was it me that had the system... The love story of Gloomy Wolf was bothering me. If I was in his shoes, was I capable of loving Beo for over a thousand years? Moreover, his love, full of pain and regret, was giving me headaches.
What if Beo was just messing with me and will eventually leave me? She could always find a better guy than me, as she had the looks, the strength, the money, the ranking... She could leave just as Raul did. If so, wasn’t it better to go to Earth now? I wouldn’t have to deal with another painful separation as before with Raul or when my parents abandoned me.
“Open status” I whispered as low as possible.

I was more than prepared to go, but I had a fear debuff. Haaa ... Was I that scared about what I had in front of me? What do I do?
I stood up as I was intending to add one more branch to the fire, but it was then that I heard the fabrics of the tent moving and when I turned my head, Beo was in front of the tent, looking at me.
“Where are you going?” Beo was looking at me as if she already knew it all. Last night she didn’t say anything, but it was all to give me time to think it over.
“I..am going home” I declared while my voice was starting to shake.
“Home? There??” Beo said bewildered while pointing at the portal.
“Right. I am going home...” I said while lowering my head.
“When are we leaving?”
“Wait, Beo, you can’t go with me!”
“Why?”
“Well, that’s because...” How do I explain that on Earth there are only humans?? “First of all, there is no war there, so we who know only how to fight won’t be well seen. moreover, we don’t have an identity there. The kingdoms there has a tight grip on their citizens, so they will know when we will try to blend in with the other citizens sooner or later. Moreover... There are no beastpeople there. they might capture you and experiment on you. I mean, torture you, while keeping you alive.”
I was speaking without even stopping and by the time I finished, I couldn’t even look at her anymore.
“Capture me? Isn’t that the same as when we first met?” a small laugh escaped her lips.
“Well, that’s different. At least here you would be released in that case.”
“I see. So, what’s the problem?”
“Wha..at?” you still ask me that even after all I have told you. I couldn’t help but look at her, but her clear eyes made me guiltier than I felt so I avoided looking at her again.
“NO MEANS NO! You can’t go with me, it will be too dangerous for you. I will be leaving the tent and supplies here. Here, this is my share of the rewards that I have saved until now” I said as I lowered the bag with the coins that I had with me on the ground. We have completed quite a lot of requests together and split the money 50-50, so with this, her savings should double with no problem. It will last for quite a while, at least until she found new requests.
“With this, I will be leaving.” I took a look at her. It was probably to clearly remember her face or something else, I didn’t know why. But when I saw her gaze, my heart shook again.
“I’m sorry, Beo.” when I said this, her eyes widened and then said something, but I was already passing through the fabric of the portal so I didn’t manage to hear it. I glanced at her and saw her rushing at the portal, but she was blocked by something and then the portal behind me broke.
It was good. It was better like this. I kept repeating these things while traveling through space. Probably thanks to my high Willpower, I managed to stay awake enough time in the space crack to hear the prompt of the system:
*Ding*
*Final Quest updated*
*Return to Earth*
*Reward: Authority over the System x1(NEW)*
*Final Quest completed*
*Will you use the reward? Yes/NO*
“Use it”
*Ding*
*Final Quest reward used, obtained Authority over the System x1*
*WILL YOU DELETE THE SYSTEM? YES/NO*
My heart froze. Of all the things that I was expecting, this was the last one. Deleting the system?! Maybe...maybe it was a good choice. Without it, I would be able to leave a normal life on Earth. All the time that I had spent over in the other world would be nothing but memories. I could probably even write a book about it. Yes, it would be better to delete it.
As my finger was about to touch the screen, a blinding light erupted from below me as I fell through a newly created portal.
I have finally arrived on Earth. But Earth had changed.
