Chapter 1

Ivy’s Pov

/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\

“Ivy get up. We have school. C’mon.” Cain whispered as he gently shook me. Yeah, bullshit he fucking ransacked me like a rag doll.

“Fuck off Cain.” I whispered in a tired voice. It was too early to get shit done.

“Whatever you do won’t work. You’re going to school. We have to get out before they wake up.” Cain whispered back urgently. I knew who they were.

Those assholes. Groaning I slowly sat up seeing that my clothes and shoes were already by my side along with my backpack that was already to go. Smiling softly, I looked up to see Cain getting his backpack ready.

I got up and headed to the small bathroom tucked in the corner of the bedroom. It was small. It had a sink so close to the toilet you could wash your hands while going to the bathroom well for girls mostly.

I mean if guys pee sitting down then go them but that would be pretty weird. Hurrying to put on my clothes I brushed my hair and put my shoes on as I opened the bathroom door, tripping in the process to which Cain laughed at.

“Oh, shut up assholes.” But I couldn’t help laughing with him as I grabbed my bookbag and headed out the door walking side by side with Cain.

Once we both made it to where the car was to which was covered in a camouflage thing, I had no idea what it was called but all I knew was that it camouflaged the car so that ‘our parents’ couldn’t break in and steal our shit or smash the fuck out of it until only one piece of scrap metal was left.

If that would have happened again, I swear I would beat them bloody. As we got in the car, I spotted another car speeding down the road, shouts and hollers echoing off of the houses.

We weren’t in a rich neighborhood. We were actually in the worst neighborhood in the town where all the murders and crimes go on.

Gunshots were a normal thing as well as shouting late at night to which our parents did waking up the whole neighborhood. We had grown up on the street. I mean until we got caught by child services.

I was so mad when we got caught. I had bit multiple officers making them bleed and I punched a couple of the child services people too. Don’t blame me I was scared for me and my brother if we were going to get separated.

He was only seven at the time while I was ten. I felt that I had to protect him from all the evil in the world. It worked for a little bit until these monsters had taken us and ruined our lives. You may be wondering why I’m still enduring their abuse.

Well, I’ve tried to get custody of Cain multiple times, but I had always lost in court because the judge was a really close friend of theirs, so we had no chance of winning. They had people all over the place protecting them.

But I promised Cain I would take them down one day. And I will keep that promise even if it’s over my dead body. The child service system is fucked up. I mean if you wanted to help these kids you wouldn’t be sending them off to their deaths.

Anyway, when we had let the car pass and go further down the road only then did, we pull out. I didn’t want to get in an accident. We made it to school in about five minutes since we were speeding down the road. As I opened the door and stepped out Cain came around to my side.

“Okay so you know how I love soccer and everything?” I just nodded knowing where he was going with this. Cain had wanted to be the best soccer player in the state.

I had no doubt he would be able to do it. And me well I absolutely loved basketball and soccer, but soccer came first. Me and Cain had the same skill set but I was more advanced and faster than him. And let me tell you he’s pretty damn fast.

“Well, there’s tryouts afterschool for the boys’ soccer team and I was wondering if I could go and if you could watch me?” Cain had a nervous smile on his face like he thought I was going to turn it down.

Putting on a straight face I said “no.” Cain’s shoulders slumped, and a frown was etched onto his face.

“But I’ve been waiting for this. You knew that.” Cain’s voice broke as he said this, but he tried to cover it up with a cough.

“Cain.” I said looking him straight in the eye.

“Yeah?” He asked with a wrinkle of his nose. He did that every time he was trying not to cry.

“Dude I’m joking of course you can try out and I can come watch you.” Right as I said this realization dawned on his face.

“You were fucking with me. You bitch.” He had an offended expression all over his face. I was practically laughing my ass off right now.

“You should have seen your face. But I’m sorry that was a bit mean.”

“You should be sorry. And it’s okay. I’d do the same thing.” And then we both started to laugh harder and harder until we were wheezing with each breath. We said our goodbyes as we calmed down and went to our classes.

I was held back 2 years not because I wasn’t smart, I had a higher iq than anyone in the school. My iq was 148. I was considered a genius.

But they had kept me back, so I supposedly didn’t deserve to go to college and that I had to keep watch over Cain. I was more than happy to do that part.

So, for the past two years I had started twelfth grade over two times. It sucked. I had transferred school in the middle of the year. Which sucked not like I had friends at the schools, but I actually liked places we moved.

Walking into the first period to which was history I saw the teacher glaring at me like she was trying to burn holes in my skin and looking at her watch.

The history teacher was my least favorite teacher. Well, all of them were my worst favorite teacher but my history one was at the bottom, bottom of my shit list.

Well, the day is starting off just peachy.
