Chapter 1

I stared out into the crowded lunch room as I waited for everyone to get there. My friends were always late and I usually got here first. I begam going through my phone, messaging some Instagram friends of mine.

Laughing filled the room near the doors. I stood on the stage, it was my usual spot. The others would sit in the table that was pushed up against the stage. Everyone knew us as the "popular girls", it had it's benefit's. I was the popular tomboy, Lucky the girly girl, Cocoa was the loud one, Micha the shy one, Melanie the singer, and Jay Jay the cheer leader.

They pulled me down for a hug, smiling as they changed my name. It wasnt long before most of the high schoolers began to. I laughed so hard at all the "CJ! CJ! CJ!". It was like a pep rally.

After the 'warm welcome' ended, we grabbed our food and headed to our spot. Not without stopping so Micha could kiss her boyfriend Chris. I resumed my spot on the stage as it went silent for a few seconds to eat.

That's when Cocoa said something that caught my attention. "Did you guys hear" -swallow- "that there's gonna be four new students that are all brother's" we all turned.

I shook my head, I didn't like gossip or being mean like you would see in movies when it comes to being popular, we weren't like that.

My friends turned to me, waggling their eyebrows "well well well" Jay Jay said. "Miss CJ might become a misses CJ" I grabbed an orange and threw it at her. "No" was all I said.

The five of them laughed, "come on" Melanie said "you're the only one of us who's still single" she said with a grin "that's gotta change girl". I stood to throw away my trash. "I'm a tomboy Mels, I doubt anyone would wanna date a girl who prefers to dress like a guy" I said dully.

Lucky turned and faced me "oh cut the crap, it makes you strong and independent, now that is what a guy likes" she said pointing her finger at me. Rolling my eyes, I jumped back up to my spot "not all of them" I mumbled as Jay Jay swatted at me.

I mean yeah I wanted to date someone, I'm almost 17, shouldn't it be time. I've only dated two people. One at fifteen and one at sixteen. I've been single for almost a year, so maybe I would like one of the new kids. Who knows?

The rest of lunch went by easily, the bell rang and I said my goodbyes as I headed to science. I loved those suckers, even if they could be annoying.

I focused on my work, I hated high school, but I loved science. The mystery of it, how everything worked. It enthralled me.

I only had three more classes after this. History, math, and English. Which I planned to sleep through all.

History and math came and went. Today was a free day so we didn't do anything but lay around and sleep most of the time. Some would draw, read, or play on their phones. Mine had died during lunch so that was out of the question. English I didn't really care for, we were reading Little Woman and doing a book report on it. Being close to being done, I didn't feel the need to read it today, I could do it at home.

I rode the bus to and from school. As I got on, people began greeting me, Jay Jay and Micha rode with me from school so I would sit with them whenever I had the chance.

We talked about meeting up with the rest of the group this weekend, hanging out at the skate park, maybe the mall.

I was the third drop off. Being that I lived in an apartment, it didn't come as a surprise when my older brother was leaning against a tree waiting for me. He walked and always beat me, speaking that my bus was always late.

He was older than me by a year. His name was Connor. He currently went to a school that was for all boys and also happened to be closer.

He had short brown hair and the same brown eyes as me. He smiled and gave me a hug like usual.

We began walking home, Connor glanced at me from the corner of his eye "sis" he said, a bit of fear in his voice. I raised an eyebrow at him, waiting for him to continue.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
