Chapter 1

It was dark, around 11:00 P.M. Darkness and fog surrounded an 18 year-old girl dressed in black and a plaid red skirt with black stripes. Her skin was a light brown color and covered in goosebumps from the eerie setting. The cool nightly breeze danced with her long pitch black hair as she bit gently on her bottom lip covered with black lipstick. The choker she wore on her neck seemed to her like it was getting tighter as she rubs it. A flock of ravens flapping in the night nearly frightened her. The street lights illuminated the sign above her head that read ‘Cherry Park’. There were bodies in green dragon suits sitting and lying on the benches. They were stiff and covered in blood. The girl was spooked, she was all alone in that park.

“Hello?” She called out.

“Is anyone still alive?” There was no response. The only sound heard was the humming of the street lights in the park. Her pitch black hair flowed gently in the breeze as her hazel eyes looked around and walked deeper into the park. A dark silhouette with wings stood in between two stands as it stared at her with glowing red eyes while she walked past. She heard a faint laughing coming from behind her. She turned to see what it was but the silhouette was gone. There was a merry-go-round next to her as it mysteriously turned on.

She jumped as the merry-go-round was spinning and playing cheerful music. But something was off about it. In place of horses were cartoon dragons. The dragons suddenly came to life and breathing out fire from their nostrils. As the merry-go-round spun faster, bodies wrapped in bloody bags started to appear on the dragons backs. The girl was truly horrified at the sight as one of the bodies looked straight at her.

Her jaw slightly dropped as she turned around and fled the other way. She ran and hid behind one of the stands as she was catching her breath. She heard a loud thumping as if something mechanical was coming after her. She peeked around the corner as she saw two red headlight beams coming toward her. She hid again, not making a sound as the stomping machine came up to the stand. The machine was an animatronic made to look like a green cartoon dragon. Except that this wasn’t a cartoon but more of a nightmare.

The covering was peeling off in some places that one can see parts of the animatronics interior skeleton. The tip of it’s mechanical tail looked very sharp like a scorpion’s tail. She heard another thump that sounded like it landed right on top of the stand. The girl was frightened and folded up her legs to her chest. She covered her mouth as to not scream. The animatronic that was on top of the stand crawled on the roof as it’s head was hanging over the edge. But this one was different.

This one was pink and was also peeling. It’s head looked like that of a prehistoric bird. It scanned the area as it stretched out it’s neck some. It too had the red headlights as the other one. It’s three fingered claws etched on the ledge, clawing into the wood. Luckily the animatronic didn’t look down as it turned around on the roof. A mechanical hand crept it’s way to the side of the stand as the girl’s eyes grew big. She quickly moved to the other side as the dragons head came into view. She was pinned down by these two animatronics. The pterodactyl animatronic finally flew away. It perched itself on the Ferris wheel that was across from the stands.

The girl saw the door to enter the stand as she quietly opened it. She snuck in as the dragon was coming around the corner. She shut the door as quiet as possible as the dragon looped around the stand. The dragon gave up looking as it stomped away. The girl peeked and saw that the cost was clear. She leaped out of the stand and walked the other way. But the pterodactyl saw the girl from above and alerted the dragon by making a loud noise that sounded like a police siren. The girl covered her ears as the dragon saw her.

It stomped after her as she ran for her life. The girl turned a corner as the dragon slide on all fours trying to turn the corner. The dragon chased the girl to a dead end. The pterodactyl perched itself onto the fence, blocking the girls path. The dragon came rushing toward her as it leaped forward, opening it’s mechanical jaw. The girl woke up screaming at her desk. The teacher and her fellow students all looked at her like she was crazy.

“Ashley! Wake up and pay attention!”

“Yes ma’am. Sorry.” Ashley said slouching in her chair embarrassed. Her fellow classmates looked back at the teacher.

“Alright class, if you turn to page 102 we can begin the test.” Ashley never felt so embarrassed in her life. She never had a nightmare like that before, well not in class anyway. Being a goth she used to welcome nightmares, but this one was different. Never before had she died in her nightmares. Was it all just a dream.... Or was it a premonition?

The year is 2006 in Paradise City. Four friends who love hanging out with each other were planning on what to do for their summer vacation from high school. These four friends have known each other since their Freshmen year and had formed a club which they call ‘The Loki Club’. They were called that because they liked causing mischief every now and then out of pure absolute boredom. Firstly, there was Summer Sommer’s who was the prissy popular girl whose always glued to her phone. Her dad was rich and always bought her whatever she wanted. Her clothes were expensive, always wearing what was popular at the time. Next to her was Simon Bronculf that was the geeky one of the group and always dressed neatly.

Miles Michelson was the one with the brains, a real technical genius sporting a cargo vest and baggy pants. He also wore a strange looking red hat too that looked like a backwards Irish flat cap. And lastly was Ashley Graves who moved here from Pinesberry at a very young age. She was the leader of the club and was the courageous type. Not afraid of facing danger in the face. Although Ashley and Summer didn’t quite get along at first being that Ashley was a goth and Summer was the prissy type. They later became the best of friends, but still argue about some things like jeans or even who the hottest boy was in high school. There were terrible rumors going around school about Ashley that were not true. Rumors which were spread by Summer when they first met. But she was strong and didn’t let the little things get to her.

After some time had past, it was Simon who stood up for Ashley. Some even said that Simon and Ashley were dating, but Simon was not her type. He tends to stutter every now and then but it wasn’t that bad. He joined the chess club and plays a card game which was known as Yu-Gi-Oh!. However there was a time where Simon did confess his love to Ashley. Although she thought it was sweet and so was he, she still turned him down gently of course.

Miles and Simon met during one of their card games. They hung out together after a while and enjoyed each others company. Simon then introduced Miles to Ashley trying to hook them up with one another. She and Miles started hanging out and eventually got together with him. Miles was more mature then Simon ever was, but that did not seem to stop their friendship. Ashley was getting her stuff from her locker before the school day had ended. Summer’s locker was right next to Ashley’s. As she was packing up too, her phone went off as she stares at the screen.

“OMG!” She shouted. Ashley glances over at her.

“Austin just texted me a pic of his hot bod.” Summer showed off the picture to Ashley thinking that it would make her hot. Shirtless showing off his rock hard abs.

“Come on, he probably just photo shopped that.” Summer shuts her locker as she leans back on it.

“You’re just jealous admit it Ashley.”

“I don’t have to admit anything.”

“We both know you’re jealous. You probably seen Miles shirtless admiring his six pack.”

“Ew, no. Miles and I aren’t together anymore anyway.” Summer pouts.

“Aww, why? You two were so good together.”

“It’s complicated, I’ll just leave it at that.” Ashley shuts her locker as she and Summer begins to walk down the hall. Simon walks up behind them as he hangs his arms off of their shoulders acting all buddy-buddy.

“Hello my fine ladies. How are we today on this glorious day?”

“Simon, get your arm off me before I break it off.” Said Summer.

“Come on Sum’s, why you gotta be like that? We’re all friends here are we not?” Simon said as he pushes up his glasses.

“Anyways, I just want to let you girls know that Miles and I are going over to my place for some Dungeons & Dragons later today. You girls can come on over and watch me kick some goblin ass and be impressed by my serious awesomeness!”

“No offense Simon but I have better things to do then just sit around and imagine you fighting off goblins.” Ashley replied.

“Oh well, your loss. How about you Sum’s? I know you’ll be amazed at my heroic stature.”

“Simon, I would rather gag on a stick then watch your little game.”

“I know what else you would rather gag on. Austin’s huge...”

“Oh my god shut-up Ash!”

“Ha, good one. Anyway, I’ll catch you girls later. My planet needs me!” Simon runs off throwing his arm up in the air like he was Superman flying.

“What a dork.”

“Yeah, he is a dork but in a charming way.” The two girls had continued down the hallway of lockers having their conversation. The double doors were within reach until they have bumped into their teacher in the hall.

“Ms. Tenchi.” Ashley responded. Koruka Yumi Tenchi was their history teacher.

“I’m so sorry that I fell asleep in class today, it won’t happen again.”

“Late night yesterday? I’ve been hearing rumors in town of a group of teenagers that were vandalizing a new park that just recently opened. That wouldn’t happen to be ‘The Loki Club’, would it?” Koruka knew about their little club.

“Us? No, that wasn’t us.”

“You know, as harmless as vandalizing is, it’s still against the law to trash someone else’s property. I know your the ones who did it....”

“No, we...”

“Let me finish! As punishment, ‘The Loki Club’ will serve community service on summer break cleaning up the park!”

“Ms. Tenchi....”

“End of discussion! Have a nice summer.” She walked away past the double doors as Summer stared at Ashley in disappointment.

“Great, because of you we now have to do community service! I’ve made plans!”

“Summer, it wasn’t me I swear! Someone’s playing a prank on us!”

“Well, if they are it’s not funny. I just had my nails done.”

“Well look at the bright side. Maybe doing some labor will do us some good.”

“Whatever. I’m going home. Have fun cleaning.” Summer went storming out of the school leaving poor Ashley behind. She hung her head in shame as she said ‘screw it’. She walked out of the school gripping the straps of her bookbag. As she walked, she thought to herself who would blame them for vandalism? After all, The Loki Club did not act in vandalism, only mischief like playing harmless pranks on people. Whoever it was must’ve had a grudge against them, but who...?
