You Lier!
Kira stood at the window of her apartment, there’s not much to it but it’s hers, a long day at university left her wanting to go out for a drink. Her business management, and bachelors degree in business and economics development were proving to be hard. She frowned at the window watching as a jet stream took off in the sky. Smirking a little at it thinking of her mom and Dante leaving earlier after there last supper together for the next 6 weeks. Her brother Antonio was getting so big, 6 years old already, starting grade 1. Mom and Dante sure did make it look so effortless raising him, he’s so smart. She smiled thinking about how much fun he’d be having in Florida. She frowned and looked at her phone, another text from her mom reminding her to take her pills, she rolls her eyes and sighs walking for the kitchen. She had called aunt Catherine, aunt Samantha and her step sister Chelsea, all of which were either busy, busy with work or off on a trip themselves. Kira almost wished she’d took Dante up on the offer to come down after the last day of school. She just wanted to hang out at home though maybe get some extra studding in. Her friend Ashley was supposed to be home this summer too, so she wouldn’t be alone really. Plus the security guards constantly watching her was sort of company. Even though they never really spoke to her, and besides these guys were like ninjas. When she was 14/15 she would pretend she was a princess that had extra security sometimes. Now she had no time for things like that, not that she did then. Between school, counselling, therapy and her mom constantly worried about how bad her depression had been since the day Kip had shot himself. She barely had room to breath let alone anything else. Still she wondered what made him do it, and why he just fell off the face of the earth after. She saw him once after he had just gotten out of the hospital, just long enough for him to slip her a note, ‘you were right when you said what you said, there for, I’m no good to you, and I meant what I said when I said goodbye Kira’ is all it said. Which left her even more confused and saddened by his pain. He did how ever include a picture of himself in the note which she’s carried all this time in her wallet with the note. The photo now fading from the 7 years of tears and holding it to her chest, so many sleepless nights lying in her bed trying to figure out exactly what she said that would make him leave, that would make him shoot himself. 7 long but fast years she couldn’t remember what she had said, not that she wanted to remember much from that night. The dance with her family and the wedding part that was the good parts. That’s what she tried to remember, his kiss that he left on her lips, she remembered. Her fingers instantly trailing across her lips remembering it. “Good bye Kira,” he whispered.
That was the last time she had actually saw him, after that he had some thug deliver the note to her as he stood down the street from her high school. She caught a glimpse of him as he slid his sun glasses on and got into his car, driving away, taking her heart with him. Her eyes blinked back the stings as her phone buzzed again. She slid it open to the text from her mom.
‘Make Sure You Take Your Pills baby’
Kira smiled at the screen, “21 and she still calls me that,” she sighs.
‘Yes momma, I did, I love you, have fun’
She replied and set her phone down then walked to the fridge to inspect the contents, her mouth screwed into a unsatisfactory look. Huffing at the things in her fridge, man I really am boring, she thinks closing the door.
Turning looking out the window she frowns, ok, that’s it, I’m going out, why can’t I, I’m legal age, and they can’t stop me. First she has to get past her guards, her eyes looked around the living room, landing on the bag she got from Chelsea, ooo, new cloths. She skipped over to the bag, pulling out a sleek black dress, it’s sheen made it a subtle beautiful. She grinned at it then went to her room. Throwing her cloths to the floor and stepped into her bathroom turning on the shower. Her hands moving threw her hair as she looked herself over. Lifting her hair into a ponytail then dropping it as she saw the bag with the wig she had used for the business roleplaying she had to do. Her lips lifting into a grin, her way out.
She showered and got dressed putting make up on, then prepared her hair for the wig. It’s chin length blonde should hide her cover, looking in the mirror she grinned again, putting coral lipstick on, and a spritz of the new AERIN Mediterranean Honeysuckle Mimosa Eau de Parfum. She smiled again then patted the hair into place, put on a necklace someone had sent her, she had figured it was just maybe her dad but hiding it. It was a beautiful emerald lion with some tribal thing etched into it. None the less it was perfect cause she’s never wore it. They’ll never catch her, she snickered to her self as she went into the closet by her bedroom taking out the red leather jacket Ashley had left the last time she was here and slid it on. Ready for a little fun, she grabs a purse from the closet and puts her things in it, then walks to the window. Stepping out on the fire escape she looks down, 21 and sneaking out like a fugitive, she closes her eyes and climbs down letting the bottom ladder take her down almost to the bottom. She turns and starts walking down the back ally looking around carefully to make sure she’s not being tailed. Quick as her heels can take her she walks out onto the busy sidewalk towards the nearest night club, 4 blocks away. Reaching the door she thinks she’s gotten away with it, until she sees one of them down the street getting a coffee, sneeking in by the security of the club he frowns down at her. “I.D.” He grunts.
She digs through her purse grabbing her drivers license shakily handing it to him. He frowns at it, then looks at her. She gives him the best smile she can and he looks back at the license. “Stay right here,” he growls and steps inside.
She rolls her eyes and rubs her forehead, peeking over to see if the guard is coming her way, sure enough he is, and getting close too. The security comes out, frowning handing her, her license, “um, I’m sorry Miss. Ambrosio,” he starts to say.
She sighs closing her eyes, great juuust great, I can’t even go out with out being spotted. “Sorry for keeping you waiting, please go a head,” the security says, opening the door.
Steam coming from inside, Eliza Elliott playing. Kira’s eyes open and she smiles her heart beating frantically as she moves to the door, expecting to be stoped but she’s not. She smiles as she moves in more taking her I.d. back, the lights, the music, the dancing, the absolute fun, waiting before her makes her eyes widen. Looking around she finds the bar, walking straight for it, she notices a couple guys from school, nothing much really, everyone else in the place is a fresh face. She orders a strawberry daiquiri, waiting with her money in her hand. Freedom is what she feels as she sits back turning the stool, the frozen drink cold in her hand. “Heyyy, pretty girl,” one guy says, turning from the bar to look at her.
She gives him a small smile then sips her drink, “wanna dance,” he asks.
“Sure, just let me finish this first,” she replies.
He nods smiling as she drinks it back, taking his hand as he puts it out she sets the empty glass on the bar and walks with him to the dance floor. He shows her a heated dance that involves grinding on each other. The next two hours become a blur as she meets more people, and has more drinks, laughing and genuinely having fun. That lady drink though, something wasn’t right, she feels sick, “I, I, I’ll be, be, back,” she says stumbling over her words.
Seeing almost doubles as she walks through the crowds towards the big lit up sine saying washrooms, she’s suddenly stopped by this guy waring a white wife beater and the tightest jeans ever. “Well hi,” he grins at her, she shakes her head at him.
Tries to step away but he grips her moving her to the wall, she goes to scream but he covers her lips with his hand. Then she bites him and brings her knee up, “You, Bitch,” he yelps, “like rough hun,” he growls pinning her again his leg between hers this time.
Her eyes going fuzzy before the smell of booze hits her as his lips move to hers, then he’s suddenly on the floor and the crowd is gasping and moving away. She frowns trying to Will her eyes to see, then doubles over puking on the floor . Large hands gripping her arm and her wig in one move. She wipes her face with the napkin being given to her. Her head moves to the voice that suddenly hits her “Back the fuck up an give her room,” he barks.
“K-k-Kip,” she whimpers before his arms are catching her from passing out in her own puke.
“You lier,” she whispers as her eyes shut and she’s being lifted into the air, and carried away.
