Chapter 1
Chapter-1
It has been 12 days since the last murder occurred. It was a 15yr old girl with blonde hair. She was found dead rolled into a plastic bag, and dumped into the garbage bin, outside the Adams house. It was the fourth house to the right from the hospital, still under construction.
I was a newbie in the Police Department, working as the new investigator. It has always been my dream from childhood to be a detective, and here I am going to start my first day at work. I was dropped off by my friend in front of the institute.
I was nervous for sure, but it all changed upon entering. The first thing I saw was dozens of officers in uniform panicking and running from one office to another. In all this chaos, I was startled by a lady about 30 appearing in front of me from thin air. “I am Officer Jenny Thomson; you must be Mr. James Anderson, the new officer”. I was shocked that all I could say was “Y-yes”.
She hardly paid attention and without wasting a moment she took me to my office. There was a wooden desk made of oak, it held a silver nameplate spelling “OFFICER JAMES ANDERSON” and next to it was a new computer.
I was feeling so proud of myself that I didn’t even notice that the lady had left. I was sitting on my chair getting comfortable when a man, probably in his 30s or 40s entered. He smiled at me and said, “Ready to start your first case?” I just nodded yes. As soon as I did that he put a blue folder in front of me. I opened it, and on the first page In BIG BLACK BOLD capital letters it was written “THE GARBAGE KILLER” which seeing that almost made me laugh but the man’s eyes were staring right at me and ordered, “Read”. I didn’t even stop a second and started his order. As soon as I read I felt a sudden chill covering my body. Only his name sounded funny. It wasn’t a case that was looking good. It was about a series of killings and just to be sure I asked the man “Sir, are we searching for a serial killer?” he just turned at me and said “James, I know it’s early for you to be investigating serial killers but we have no choice.” I was regretting my job already, but I looked at that case and gulped, I didn’t want to give up my dream already, maybe it will be a good experience and maybe it will be like traveling with Sherlock Holmes, why am I getting scared, I have already done a part-time job as a detective.
The man suddenly spoke, I forgot he was even in here “So, are you going in?” I made up my mind and with a smile said “Yes, Sir”. I could tell he was happy a light smirk managed to escape from his emotionless face. As he was leaving he suddenly turned back and said “I almost forgot, I’m Officer Jacob Lawrence, you can say I’m the head here, and Good Luck on your Case.”
After he left I went back to my chair and put my eyes on the case. I put my legs on the desk since no one was around and continued reading.
THE FIRST CASE
8/01/2017
A dead body was found wrapped in a plastic sheet and dumped in a garbage bin near a lake.
The victim was a 15-year-old girl named Alyssa whose body was recognized by her parents.
Her hair was cut unevenly. Her clothes were covered in dirt. Upon investigation by the forensic officers, a light amount of mercury was recovered from her blood. Numerous cobra bites were discovered on her back.
The victim probably died about 4-5 days before discovering. The victim had a huge injury on the back of her head, suggesting she was hit there using a heavy object.
It was a rather interesting case. The 4 cases were the same, rolled in plastic and dumped in a bin. They were all located in a similar area. There was no doubt that all these murders were connected.
I was quite cozy going through the pages until I saw the pictures. They were quite disturbing may I say. Blood, blood, and more blood. At first, they looked like something straight out of a horror movie, but at a closer look, I found something that I definitely thought was a clue or better the main lead.
I quickly went running to find Mister Jacob. I quite literally looked like a toddler who finished his first puzzle and ran to his parents to show them.I was so full of excitement that I almost forgot I didn’t even know where his office even was.
I went through the hallway looking at the nameplates. Mary, Thomas, Gary, Elizabeth. I was starting to get frustrated when a golden door caught my eye “This should be his office I thought to myself.”I slowly opened the door and yes, my prediction was right.Jacob was right there. I proudly went up to him.He just waved his hand signing me to sit.
He leaned toward me and said, “So, James what have you found?” I showed him the file and pointing at each of the pictures said “Sir these kids are wearing a sports jersey”.He looked confused, I understood the confusion and said “Sir they are wearing the sports jersey of Heatherton Academy, The school near our building”. He looked at me with a frown “James, you can tell me when you reach a real clue, a big lead to this mystery” as a matter of fact many kids around this area go o that school, so this may just be a coincidence”. I probably never felt that discouraged. I knew I was right, I knew this was a big lead, how did Mr. Jacob change from the most encouraging person to the opposite. After noticing me fallen in my thoughts he said loud “Understand”. I just told yes sir and came back to my office with a frown. After six I left my office with the case file and went home
