Chapter One
“Run Alexia, don’t you ever dare look back; ...... just ..... run..... now!” Max voice shocked her body into moving, her feet moving on their own now, running from the old rickety little house. Just as she ran trough the front door she ran head on into something hard and solid. Looking up her eyes met with the red ones of another vampire, his white fangs glistering in the light of the full moon.
For a moment time stood still for Alexia as she could only hear her own heart beating and all she saw was this monstrous vampire before her, his soul gleaming like a red fire all around the man within. Her hands moved on their own accord as she grabbed onto the vampire part of the being before her, ripping it from it’s human vessel.
Alexia stood watching the vampire’s soul in her grasp as it clawed at her with no effect, the human part of him fell backwards and down onto the porch gasping for air. She watched as the vampire part within her hands grew weaker and weaker until it died with-in her hands, bursting into thousands of little sparks of amber, she stood watching as the sparks drifted off and died like a fire’s sparks drifting off and dying and then there was just nothing. Leaving her with only a human man’s body, a part of the once fierce vampire now lying gasping for air on the floor before her, as he too where now struggling to hold on to life and failing at it as well.
“Run .... Alexia ..... run!” Max hoarse screams tore trough her body as she jerked awake, ‘another nightmare, fuck.....’ she shook her head trying to rid herself of the terribly memories that’s on a constant reply trough her nightmares.
Chapter One
The Institute
More or maybe less than six years earlier..........
“No that’s not an option Miriam. We asked for your help and now you just want to take her from us! Like we would ever just give you our little girl to you and just walk away from her. Hell! No! I would rather die before I give her to the Institute, we all know what they’ll do to her” anger was seeping through every syllable of Ian’s voice as his blue eyes flashed with an even darker shade of blue. “This is me helping you Ian, this will be the best for her and they will be able to find out what she is and what she can do, they can help” Miriam pleaded with him, her blond hair swaying from side to side as she spoke “No! If this is how you want to help us, then we don’t want your help” Ian reached out his hand towards the dark haired woman sitting at the table, holding a scared looking little girl on her lap. As the woman stood from her chair she said with anger dripping from every word “After everything;..... we expected so much more from you Miriam”
Miriam stepped in front of the woman blocking her path and reaching out towards the dark haired woman, her voice now laced with a warning tone “This will be your last chance to come in Linette, the last and only time we will offer our help”. “Goodbye Miriam” Linette’s tone was flat and unwavering as she stepped around the other woman.
Miriam watched them go and in that moment she new she had to try one last time “This is not over Ian, you know we will come for her, and we will never stop coming, not until we have her.” Ian turned around, moving right up into her face, he whispered in a harsh and menacing tone. “You now what we’re capable of Miriam, we will kill everyone and everything you send our way, so go ahead and give it your best” his low and menacing voice sends chills down her spine.
“What about your sons, running from the Institute would be taking their childhood from them, they will hate you for choosing her above them” Mirriam knew she was treading and extremely hot and molten ground now; she might just have signed her own death certificate.
“Really Mirriam, playing the children card now are you? I thought using families against people where beneath you, you off all people know we love all our children and where it ons of our boys nothing would have changed this situation” Linette shrugged her shoulders in irritation as she stepped from their home. ‘Well until today it was their home, now their home is where ever her family may be’
Miriam lets out a long breath as she watched their black truck sped off, she new it was a low blow, bur knowing what the Institute is capable off she had to go even there. Her hands trembled with fear, she knew and she even saw first hand what both Ian and Linette were capable off. They were not the Institutes best agents and the best hunters out there by just playing nice, she knew this is not going to end well for anyone. On her own she can’t do anything but watch them leave; she knew she had high hopes stepping in here in the first place to convince them to bring their daughter in, but she had to try, for old times sakes, she had to try.
She took out her phone pressing the speed dial button while a shiver filled with both anticipation and fear ran trough her body, dreading his anger. “Yes” the short bark of an answer she received made her stomach turn in on itself. “They will not be bringing her in sir, they’ve..... they’ve gone rouge sir” she tapped nervously with her free hand against her thigh as she spoke, her hands still trembling as a nervous, grim look plays on her face. A short silence fell on them before the male’s voice continued “That’s why I told you to take a tactical team with.....” his voice boomed to her in a burst of anger “Yes sir it’s just.... I was just....” Miriam tried to defend herself but she was cut off rudely by the males angry voice “You just didn’t listened,..... nor did you even think........I will handle this from here on personally” a click was heard as he ended the call, leaving Miriam rattled; she knew that her ass will be handed to her the moment she steps foot back into the institute.
She muttered a low curse “Aaaggghhh do they really think they’re going to achieve anything by running from the institute, they all know once your in, you’re in and the only way out is trough death” Miriam shook her head as she stepped from the house still trembling and cursing softly to herself.
The Institute was formed by a group of hunters hundreds of years ago, fighting against the dark evil lurking in the night, working as a team it was not just easier but also a lot safer for them all. As time went on the institute grew bigger and stronger as it trained all the young hunters to become stronger and faster. The Institute was and is still led by the oldest five hunter families, trough time they have some basic laws written down that all have to follow and now by heart, 1. never take an innocent life be it creature or human, 2. Leave human affairs to the humans to handle themselves, never meddle in human affairs, 3. Keep the supernatural world hidden away from human always, 4. Never show or tell anyone who or what you truly are and a lot more.
As time passed some of these lines and rules seemed to have for some reason or another became blurry and grey to some hunters, for now the institute are not just hunting those that cause harm, no their cells underground are filled with every kind of creature they can lay their hands on. There are laboratories where they do experiments and testing on how they can use these creatures in other ways; for medicine, weapons or to advance themselves as hunters.
Now how can any loving parent send their beloved daughter to a place were she will only be used as a test subject? Would you?..........
