chapter one

Everyday I would go to the same coffee shop and get the same thing before my shift in the Fire department. I was an EMT so I would usually just get a regular black coffee and a breakfast sandwich if there wasn't going to be any breakfast in the station that morning. Everyone in the little shop knew me; I mean I did come here every morning. So imagine to my surprise when I see a new worker standing there at the register with a face that just screams that he doesn't want to be here. "Good morning can I get a black coffee large please and that will be all." I give a warm smile getting my card out to pay. "Name?" he says looking annoyed, but God knows why I'm just trying to be nice. "Willow." I give him a tight lipped smile looking down to his name tag. 'Hades hm'. I raise my eyebrow sitting down and waiting for the coffee once he hands me my receipt. I grab my coffee from him once he calls my name saying a quick 'thank you' before heading to work for a long twelve hour shift.

I see death everyday on the job, but there is only so much I can do to help and I do my damn best at it too. Recently many people have been going missing, but there have been no reports of any found bodies. No 911 calls. Nothing. The police have gotten people in custody, but they say there is some master plan that is going on. Many of them have shattered bones when they were dropped off at the police station. Me and my partner quickly realized that there was no way that someone could have broken an arm to this extent, nor could a fall shatter a bone like this. There has been a rumor about some superhero or vigilante named Rouge going around in the night getting these guys breaking their bones and dropping them off at the police station. Personally, I don't like the guy. Like come on why are you making my job harder than it has to be. It will be like eleven at night an hour before we switch shifts and I'm getting a call to patch these guys up. It's ridiculous.

After the long shift I make it to my car right when someone grabs my arms pulling onto them. I quickly start thrashing trying to get out of his hold screaming help. I finally knee him where the sun doesn't shine, making him let go of me while I deliver a quick punch to his face knocking him out cold. I close my eyes, catching my breath leaning against my car. "You got one hell of a punch." A deep voice says in front of me. I quickly opened my eyes screaming again throwing another punch at whomever it was in front of me only for him to duck and back away. "I'm here to help, okay. I'm only here to help." The man says putting his hands out in front of him in a surrendering position. Now that I see him better he's wearing a suit that looks to be a mummy with a mask that is matching, as well as a cape and hood that was white along with everything else. He looks to be very built and tall too and I couldn't make out his eyes. The suit seems to make them glow white.

"Who the hell are you? I'll call the police I swear." I narrow my eyes at the man pulling out my phone. "No, no, no come on I'm sure you've heard of me they named my Rouge I'm just trying to help I swear." He picks up the man on the floor with ease, throwing him over his shoulder. "So you are the asshole making my life miserable huh." I narrow my eyes, approaching him with all signs of fear in my body long gone. "Listen here Rouge I don't give a damn about what you are trying to do but maybe have some of the other extras in your plan in mind we're the ones cleaning up after your mess so try not to damage too many bones in people's bodies yeah and leaving them on the brink of death in front of the police station yeah. Okay great talk." I pat his chest, turning around, getting out my keys, opening the car door. I hear him moving behind me so I turn around right as he grabs my car squeezing it tight to the point where I can see the metal bending. "Listen here I'm trying to save all of this town's lives and I don't need some bitch telling me off when I'm trying to do some good alright. You got bigger things coming to this town if I wasn't here, lady." He grits out his grip getting tighter on the car, bending the metal making even more mad. "First of all get your hand off my car before you break it, and who do you think cleans up your mess at the end of the day we do so maybe you should show me some respect asshole." I try to push him back but I'm unable to so I just go under him seeing that he is much taller than me and open the driver's side throwing in my bag from that side. "Now if you could just go away I just finished a twelve hour shift and I'm tired." I let out a breath and rubbed my forehead, getting a headache. "Fine whatever." He lets go of my car picking up the guy again before jumping up to the building roof and out of sight, probably to the police station. 'What a day.'

For the next couple of weeks the same thing happens. I get off of work and see him there by my car. At first he said he was making sure no one else would come back here, but now he comes when he's injured and I help him of course it's my job. I also realize that the guy from the coffee shop and him are the same height and about the same size. Wide shoulders and extremely tall and the same tired tone of voice. So today I decided to confront him when I see him after my shift.

Once again I see him after my shift holding his side which has a lot of blood pooling out. "Holy shit." I quickly rush over dropping my bags annd getting my medical bag out of the car. "You need to take this thing off i need to see what happened." "What no way." he says sternly, wincing as he talks. "Come on now isn't the time to be stubborn. I'm pretty sure I know who you are now, come on before you pass out." I start putting pressure of the gash while he just rolls his eyes as the suit begins to disappear leaving Hades in front of me on the floor in pain. "Happy now." He glares at me sucking in a breath of air and closes his eyes in pain. "Oh shut up who am I going to tell lets be honest." I roll my eyes cleaning the wound ignoring him cursing at me and begin to stitch it up. "There done now I expect an explanation tomorrow night." I get up taking my gloves off before helping him up slowly. "Yeah whatever." he rolls his eyes while the suit comes back on. "You know for saving your life multiple times or even just helping you I would at least be expected to be treated as an equal to you or maybe even a thank you."I cross my arms glaring at him. "Fine thank you and I'll see you tomorrow night." He jumps up on the building leaving me alone to my thoughts until I went to bed that night.
