Prologue
I look around trying to figure out what I was seeing. Mommy and daddy had handed this man something green looking before he dragged me and my sister away from them. I tried to fight my way out of this grasp to protect my sister, but nothing worked my little hands didn't have the strength to fight. I look around at the back of the bus. It was dimly light, and I couldn't see very well. I felt my sister trembling next to me as I held her hand. I tightened my grip on her trying to reassure her. Once she was more settled, I look around once more, I could tell I was surrounded by lots of other people. Mostly they were girls, but I could see a few boys here as well. The man who took me away from my parents throw me in here and told me to be quiet. The bruises I had from where mommy and daddy hit me hurt more. I was scared I could feel silent tears falling down my face wondering where these people were taking us. My sister's body had grown cold.
I shot up out of my bed feeling sticky and sweaty from the nightmare I just had. I wanted to puke from the memory. It made me sick when I think about what those people did to us.
"Not again." I brought my hand up to my face feeling a headache coming already. Every few weeks the nightmares come reminding me of my past, of my sister. I look at my alarm clock on my nightstand. 10 minutes before I actually needed to get out of bed. I inwardly groan knowing I won't be getting anymore sleep. I shuffle out of and headed off to get a shower. I ate breakfast and changed in my work clothes making sure my gun was in my waist belt and my Id was resting on my chest. Today was the first day of the new job and I hated being late to anything.
Stepping out of my apartment I started to head toward my new department of work as a profiler for the F.B.I. The building was tall and had that typical appearance of a government building with all the grey and white tints. Stepping inside I noticed everything was like usual, neat and tidy with people walking in all directions with an urgency. I had been here many times and gotten used to the plain exterior of the building and the atmosphere.
"Hey, is that the new recruit nobody wanted."
"I heard she almost killed one of her team members in her first mission."
"I heard she almost tortured a suspect to death."
"No wonder they assigned her to them. She'll fit right along with them."
"I heard she volunteered for the job."
"She's just a monster in the body of a human."
I ignored the comments people made as I walked through the building. Unfortunately for them I didn't get transferred anywhere I chose to be voluntarily assigned to that division. I kept my face blank the entire way through the building not allowing an ounce of emotion to show. They didn't deserve any ounce of attention; they weren't worth it. No matter what era humans were always the worst monsters. I reached the elevator I needed to get on and stepped inside once it opened for me. I was going to press for my floor number, but I saw that it had already been pressed. I looked to my left to find a tall guy with black hair and red eyes. If any other girl saw him, they'd think he was a model not an agent. He was dressed formally but not too much for the occasion.
"What are you?" I peeked at his face. I had to look up cause of the height difference and saw an amused smile on his face.
"What do you mean by that?"
"You know what I mean. The only people or I should I say creature that goes to this floor are supernatural's." He still held a smile on his face while I explained my reasoning like he was watching a dog trying to figure out a new toy.
"How insightful of you to answer your question I'm a vampire. The lead investigator for the M.A.U." He brought his hand out for me to shake it. "Nice to meet you, I'm Abraham." My eyes widen this man was my superior and I spoke rudely to him.
"My apologies sir." I reached my hand out in turn and shake his hand. "I just transferred to the M.A.U today and I wasn't aware of who you are. Apologies for my rudeness I'm Morrigan."
"No need for sir just Abraham. Honorifics are unnecessary if you ask me. Though I must say it's a surprise to see that you're not afraid of me seeing as you're a human." I froze at what he said and stared at him intently trying to see if there was something I should be intimidated by. As I thought what I saw was a person with authority who had aura that let you feel relaxed when around him. He was nothing compared to the hell I went through when I was younger.
"No offense sir but I find my own kind scarier than you." He looked at me with a puzzled expression trying to decipher what I meant by that.
"What do you ——." Before he could finish his sentence though the elevator opened to a floor filled with supernatural's running around with papers in their hands. Orcs, goblins, fairies, mythical creatures of all kinds stopped when I stepped in. They froze with confusion, fear, and shock filling their eyes. I wasn't surprised not many if any humans decided to apply for this division. The people who knew about the Mythical Analysis Unit or the M.A.U usually shied away from this place. In this world supernatural's otherwise known as mythical creatures coexist with normal humans. The M.A.U. was created to solve and learn from crimes committed by supernatural's in order to prevent or stop such things from happening again. That's why many agents in the building employed here would avoid this place because they were afraid of getting hurt or even killed by the supernatural's if they applied for a job here. Abraham took this chance to settle the people down.
"Relax everyone this here is our new recruit Morrigan feel free to give her a warm welcome!" At Abraham words their eyes changed to happy expressions, and they all shouted welcomes to me before they ran off to get matters, they needed for their work.
"What will I be doing Abraham?"
"You will be on my main team with me and three other people as the human behavior specialist. Come on I'll introduce you to them. It just so happens we have a case too."
Once he finished his sentence, he led me to a room where the other people were sitting and waiting for us.
"From left to right we have Eva the werewolf, Darshil the incubus and Ereka the witch."
From the left Eva the werewolf was leaning in a corner of the room she looked to be a couple of inches taller than me and had long wavy brown hair and milk chocolate brown eyes. She wore a tank top with a pair of shorts and tennis shoes. The guy next to her was sitting backwards in a chair at the round table looking me up and down with keen interest. He had Black curly hair with deep green eyes. He dressed less formal than Abraham but still looked nice. Lastly Ereka was standing by a white board with what looks to be a remote control in her hand. She had long red hair with bright blue eyes that looked like the sky. She gave me an annoyed look like I'd just spoiled the ending to her favorite movie.
"Nice to meet you all I'm Morrigan, a human." This was how I started working as a profiler for the M.A.U.
