"Just when I thought I might take up diving,.... Nope. I love the start of this novel (read up to chapter 4). But seriously, never going to scuba dive after this. The first four chapters have me hooked. The writing style has a very clean Tom Clancy-style vibe that makes it easy to read in a single pass. Eric Dabbs narrates the steps the divers are taking (and why they do them) without it seeming like forced explanations. Even the description of the inexperienced kayaker at the start is well articulated leaving a clear picture in the mind of what is happening. Very interested to find out the back story of the ML and his ex, and see how he gets out of the jail he's found himself in at the end of the chapter 4. Definitely on my list of books to watch. The writer appears to have the technological know how about scuba diving manoeuvres and underwater conditions to make this a cracking read. The story is subtle with good characterisation and has an underlying sense of tension within the plot."
