Why You Dont Drink Before Driving

I was 16

You were too

Separated by only 10 minutes

We were born in the same hospital

In rooms right next to each other.

She named me Stella

And she named you Stella too.

You had blonde hair and green eyes

I had blonde hair and green eyes

We were the same, you and I.

It was October and I was the only one sober(?)

Between us I was in the better position

So I drove while you giggled and laughed

At other drivers with dogs sticking their heads out

Of open windows and people who blasted their

Music too loudly. I was the one driving when the

Man in the big red truck hit us.

They told me you died upon impact.

We aren’t the same anymore.
