My head can't grazps the words coming from our team leader Mr. Lee. My head keep on refusing to absorb it, wanting to delay the moment. But no matter what I do, nothing will change.
" let's just think that this is a vacation. The company grant us the break they don't allow before." Mr. Lee said. His face is a mixture of dissapointed and looking at the bright side.
"for how long sir?" Mingyu asked. He's just a new comer and been in our team for 5 months.
"I'm afraid I don't know."
"what do we do now Sir?" Jackson, my coffee buddy/friend asked.
"we wait till the case ended. The lawyers are doing their best. Let's trust them." Mr. Lee said.
"were fired aren't we?" Hana asked. Worried.
"no were not fired. We're just being lay off for a while since the case filed is not yet cleared."
No matter how nice Mr. Lee put it, it changes nothing that our team is semi fired. I've been working in S&K publishing as a graphic artist for two years now, and it's my first time to experience something like this.
A case was filed against the company for plagiarising a story from a book that was published two years ago. The author filed a case immediately and been milking the company for weeks now. Our team didn't know anything about the project were working being not really ours. It shouldn't be our problem since the "author" were working with sold his "work" to the company. But since the legal team of the company can't handle the problem properly, the issue went big as the author who claimed S&K stole his story went online and post about the issue. S&K being one of the biggest publishing house in the country, people starts to question the company's moral and values.
The company needed someone to take the blame, and that someone is our team, saying we also had to take some of the blame since it's our team who is creating the project.
After our short yet painful meeting, I head back to my desk and start picking some of my things. I don't know how long I'll be gone or if I will still come back. I grab my coffee mug, the photo frame of me and Miyoung,my favorite cactus plant, the Polaroid photos I stick on my walls, and put them all in the box.
I glance over Jackson's table and he's doing the same. The look in his face tells me that he's dissapointed, as he keeps shaking his head.
"want to have coffee before we leave?" I asked.
He glanced at me. "you just want me to take you home. But sure. Let's have coffee." he said.
I giggle as he find out my layover in asking him for coffee. Unlike me, Jackson is rich. He only works because he loves arts, and if he didn't pursue art he might work at his parents company.
While the unlucky me, have to work hard since I have bills to pay and a debt to pay. Now that I was semi fired at the moment, I need to find another job so that i can still pay my rent and buy food to eat.

After having coffee with Jackson, he took me to my apartment. The familiar silence welcomes me as I open the door. I live alone since Miyoung decided to study in Japan. She insists on still paying half of the rent but I refused since she's not really living here. Now without job, I'm not sure how long my savings will last till I find another job.
I put out all the items in my box, then I head to my kitchen to raid food for my dinner.
I sigh as I don't see anything I like inside my fridge. Closing it, I open my cabinets to find some ramen but only to let another sigh as there is nothing inside.
"will I survive of I eat ramen for months?" I asked my self loudly.
I end up visiting a convenience store beside the apartment building, then I head back to my apartment.
Since I'm not used to sleeping early due to my work schedule. I spent my night watching series on my laptop. While watching, I laugh as the character in the series got fired from her job. I laugh so loud, until I stop.
"I got fired too." I said talking to the character in the series.
I watch as the character cries, then soon enough, a guy came and hug her. He comfort the girl and tell her sweet nothings. I felt sad as I realized I have no one who will do that to me.
"lucky you. Unlucky me." I said watching the lovers embraced each other.
