Chapter 1
I was hurt, running and I was tired. My legs won’t work anymore and I fell.
I could hear the footsteps, they were close. I had to get up, I had to run. But my body won’t move anymore and I laid still on the ground. I tried not to make any noise, but my heart was beating fast and loud. I closed my eyes and held my hands together and closed them tight.
I couldn’t hear them anymore, did they leave? But they were so close. Should I get up? Will I be dead if I did? I wanted to get up and see if they were gone but my body still won’t move. So I laid down still holding my breath.
John….. John…..
I could hear my name been called.
But who could it be? It was so feeble that I couldn’t hear properly or maybe I am so tired that even my ears are not working. But who could it possibly be? I thought all were dead, did any of them survive? But Mark and Daisy I saw them dead maybe it was George or maybe Tiya? I dint see them dead I just lost them while we all were being chased and assumed they all died that I saw them no more. Maybe they survived. I hope they did. I hope I am not the only one left among us.
I couldn’t possibly live thinking all my friends were dead, and it was all because of Mark.
2 MONTHS BEFORE
Let’s all meet at my house at 8.00 pm.
It’s been a tradition for all of them to meet at my house almost all days except the days they were to be home. My house was always filled with people and my bedroom was our ‘gang base’.
George and I have known each other since our diapers age, And Mark’s mom and my mom have been best friends since highschool. We met Tiya and Daisy from the 3rd grade and we all have been bestfriends since then.
Mark have been dating Lily one of the most famous girl in their school since the freshmen year. Mark do have the looks to be honest and it’s no wonder that lily the rich daddy’s daughter will ever even consider going out with Mark. I mean Mark not only have the looks but also the pockets full. He sometimes can be the rudest person you will ever meet and sometimes like sometimes genuinely nice too.
Tiya what’s up with you? , George asked looking at her.
Yes she did look a bit silent today I thought myself.
Tiya was the group crackhead who have the craziest ideas and always loved to explore. Like she might be the bravest among us not going to lie. She really can’t take when someone is being rude and stands up for even the most unpopular people when they are being bullied by the ‘big gang’.
‘Big gang’ group of six, the biggest bully’s at our school. They are six rich kids just hanging around and picking on people below them according to them. Pretty sure you will find a gang like this in every class.
No one ever picked on us, never even looked down on us.
It was as if we did nothing but at the same time we had our status. Like we had our power yet we never did anything to have them.
It’s just home stuff, Tiya replied to George.
And also John I might not come today. My stepdad is home and apparently they all want a normal dinner. I don’t know about the dinner but it won’t be normal. So count me out.
Oh common Tiya, you never cared about the family dinners, and you hate them too, I said.
I know and I do, but yesterday I heard mom cry I need to make sure if all’s fine.
Alright Ti.
So rest of them lets meet at usual.
Yes… Yes rest all replied, even though none really looked up, I mean that’s usual anyways. Everyone were mostly on their phones, but then again it was normal.
We all split after the 4th period. We had different classes there after.
I and Tiya ended up walking home together.
We both split from the j.k road where the roads split and mine was in the right and hers left.
Be safe, and if things starts to get ugly at home call us alright?
Yes I will, she said and left.
I was actually worried, because Tiya never acts normal, she speaks loud and whatever she says it ends with giggle, it made me worried seeing her quiet and that made me think how bad things were at home.
We all met at my house as usual Daisy was on the bed, me and Mark were playing video game and George was downstairs talking to my dad about some plant he bought earlier.
George was kind off the nerd guy in the group. But the cool kind off nerd who knows everything but still fails. I don’t know how he does that though. He is so brilliant that even teachers don’t get how he fails some tests at times. George was the rational guy who always told us the pros and cons of our actions and still made sure to follow whatever we did.
Daisy most of the time was on her phone. She was the social media queen. Another reason why the ‘big gang’ never picked on us because we had the member in our group who had the most followers on Instagram in school. She literally brags about it all the time and to everyone.
And I, I was simply a type everyone needs in a group. I was the one to make the most stupid decisions and yet come up with the best plan to get out of the consequence. Simply said there would be no group without a person like me.
