"Hey Aiden , Come here Do you like this shirt " Paloma asked her son, calling him.. waving her hand towards the shelf where shirts were placed.

"Yeah mum, I love it" Aiden said checking it out, trying roughly by putting it on his front.

" Then lets take it" his mother said placing tee pack in their shopping trolley

The lady was busy searching some of the kitchen essentials when Aiden tugged at her top.

"Mum....... Mom , listen " he said still holding onto his mother's top..

" Yeah baby what's up? What do you need? " she said without looking up, busy in her shopping ticking some of the contents off the list..

"That man standing there is staring at us from last five minutes" he said alerting her.

She got worried who the stranger might be

A thug

A kidnapper

A child thief

Oh no what was she even thinking?

She held Aiden's hand tightly and looked up following the direction of Aiden's finger..

Eyes widened, she stood there froze for a second, then recovering quickly.

What to do? what on the earth was he doing there? Oh right he lives in this city. What was she doing there?

What was she even talking.. ofcourse she should just calm down and go on as if nothing happened.

Snapping out of her tranc, she saw he was waving at her with an awkward smile. Paloma gave him a fake small smile and started pacing fast towards exit saying "lets go baby"

"Paloma , hey listen " she ignored him and started walking more fast but he came briskly walking and stood abrupt in front of them. She stopped dead in her tracks and gave him a small wave " Hey Blayze " trying to be nonchalant.

He was curiously staring at something - precisely at Aiden holding her finger..

"How are you?" he asked after some time.

"I am good" she said trying to cut the conversation short.

"What is your name?" He said now directing his attention to Aiden.

Aiden" her son replied curious as to who was talking to his mom..

" How old are you? " Blayze asked hopefully.

"He's seven " she said abruptly having caught off-guard at his question.

"Oh" Blayze said with disappointed face...she could exactly tell what he was wishing for..but she dare not say anything.

She started walking again this time more fast when Aiden spoke "Mom I am eight. Why did you lie to that man ??.. You always say we should be honest"

She mentally scolded her kid. Oh no.. her baby.. this was not the time for moral policing.

"Stop it" she whisper scolded him.

From the corner of her eye she could see him staring at them with wide eyes.

Jesus help, please. She was stuck if he would connect the dots. Knowing her ex- husband, she knew - he would.

She swore to not let anybody take her happiness - her son.. away from her...

No... never....

bushbaby: I love the slightly different spin on the were-world and I love love love reading Jaspers story splashed in-between. I honestly did not love Dev, he had no character growth and no arc I just didnt like who he is as a person and that made it hard to keep going about half way through. Without Jaspers ...

NN: It got me from chapter 1. I’m sad it ended, but I loved the whole story. It was very emotional to read parts of it, and the dynamics, characters, and plot twists were amazing. I’d like to have an epilogue... 10years from now. What happened to Dewey? Even Jordan hahahaha

PARIS IN THE DARK

Hester: Very good, was short too the point , not lingering on the abuse, pity you didn’t let him step in earlier knowing the abuse was happening, but this is almost real for some women who have gone through it, just wish they could all have a princess at te end of thete tunnel
