“Donna! Wake up! You’ll be late for school!”

I groaned. “A few more minutes!”
I heard my mother’s frustrated noise and angry foot steps as I felt a pillow slapping on my head.
“Mom!” I shouted as I got up from my bed.
“Great, you’re awake, now time for you to eat your breakfast and get ready for your first day at school.” She said as she exited the door.
I let out a tired groan as I walked out of my bed towards the kitchen to eat breakfast.
“I’ll walk you to your school.” My Mother said while I was getting ready to exit the apartment door.
“Mom, I’m 15 years old now, you don’t need to walk me to school,” I replied. But my mom kept on insisting to walk me to school so I gave in.
My name is Donna, I’m a 15-year-old lass living in a small city in Antaeus. I live alone with my mother ever since I was born. Every time I asked my mother about my father she’ll just shrug it off which made me think that maybe my father did something bad to her so she doesn’t want to mention or remember him anymore.
Even though my father did something wrong, I would still like to meet him because whatever happens, he’s still my father.
Several minutes later, we arrived at my new school: Eagle Mountain High
I looked up at my new school upfront, strangely, it looked like it was built centuries ago but in reality, it was built 15 or so years ago.

“Your new school looks beautiful! I hope you’ll enjoy it here.” Mother said enthusiastically.
She bid goodbye to me and then left.
While I was observing the exterior of the school, I felt someone bump me from behind, hitting my shoulder.
“Ouch! Watch where you’re going!” I shouted to the one who bumped me, but surprisingly, I saw no one near me.
The person who bumped me must’ve been a fast walker. I thought as I noticed a pendant laying on the ground, near where I am standing.
I grabbed the pendant. They must’ve dropped it. I thought as I observed the pendant. It had a small gold sword in it.

I was mesmerized, It gave me a feeling of deja vu, like I had seen a sword like that before. I mean, a lot of swords look alike, but the one in the pendant gave me a feeling that something belonged to me.
While still figuring out where I remembered the sword that was in the pendant, the school bell rang. I placed the pendant inside my bag and planned on examining it later when I arrive home.
I rushed to my classroom. World History was my first subject. I entered the classroom late, the teacher looked at me. “Great start for the first day of class isn’t it?” She said.
She had long, really long thin dark brown hair, pale skin tone, thick eyebrows, big pouted lips, and piercing dark brown eyes, probably black.

My history teacher looks like the kind of teacher that no one wants to mess with; That’s the vibe I get from her.
“I’m sorry ma’am, I promise I won’t do it again,” I said sincerely while the whole class is staring at me.
“Oh yes, I’ll make sure that you won’t do it again.” She said then smirked, which made me start to feel more embarrassed. Just a few minutes inside this classroom made me feel that world history wouldn’t be my favorite subject this year.
I searched for any vacant seats, hopefully as far from her as possible. Sadly, only one vacant chair is available, so I had no choice but to sit in that chair. On the bright side, the chair was placed in the 3rd out of 5 rows in the classroom, which was far from her.
I walked towards the chair while everyone’s attention was still on me. Great, now I got free publicity.
I sat down on the chair, some of my classmates now stopped looking at me. “That’s okay, being late doesn’t mean you’ll completely fail this subject.” The guy next to me whispered to me.
I then looked at him, he had a low fade dark brown hair, a fair skin tone, round dark blue eyes, and a charming smile.

I stared at him awkwardly, It was the first time someone talked to me normally, not for school purposes.
“My name is Richard Anagnos.” He said then smiled.
“I’m Donna Othrys, Uh, nice to meet you I guess?” I said awkwardly, I wasn’t used to talking to other people besides my mother and her friends who often visit our house. He replied with a smile.
The both of us then gave our full attention to the teacher.
“Good morning class, My name is Ms. Argos. Your World History teacher.”
“More like Ms. Arrogant,” Richard whispered to me which made both of us giggle.
“Is there something funny?” Ms. Argos said loudly in front of the class while looking at us angrily.
Everyone’s attention is not only on me now, but also on Richard’s. “We haven’t even been in this classroom for half an hour and you already made my blood boil. ” She said while looking at me. I can feel her anger while staring into my eyes.
“We’re sorry Ms. Argos,” I said apologetically. “I’m not sorry,” Richard whispered to me and I elbowed him.
She squinted her eyes at us then looked away from us and continued her introduction.
“As I said a while ago, I am your World History teacher. I’ll be your teacher for the whole year and I want to get to know every single one of you so we can all go along smoothly.” Ms. Argos said I had a feeling that the last line was specifically for me.
“I want all of you to introduce yourselves in front of the class. Let’s start with you.” her long nails with black nail polish at me.
I stiffly got up from my seat and stood in front of the class.
“My name is Donna Othrys, I’m 16 years old from Olympus.”
After saying where I was from, my classmates looked at me confusingly but our teacher gave out a small snicker.
“Olympus? Are you serious? What are you an Olympian?“Ms. Argos said jokingly.
“Well, I do dream of joining the Olympics because my mother told me I’m a great archer,” I replied.
My classmates laughed at me, I was confused. I could see Richard getting secondhand embarrassment.
“Oh, you silly little girl, Olympus doesn’t exist anymore! It’s been destroyed thousands of years ago! And the Gods that have lived there are also destroyed and are gone!” Our teacher said boastfully.
“That’s not true!” I said confidently like I was a hundred percent sure that what she just said isn’t true.
Ms. Argos continued to laugh and was starting to get annoyed. “Haven’t you read the books? Olympus was destroyed by the giants and the not-so-mighty Olympians have fallen.”
“But ---” I was about to answer but the words were stuck in my mouth.
“Save it. I don’t wanna hear more nonsense from you.” She said as I sat down on my chair embarrassingly.
After I did my embarrassing introduction, Richard was called on next. “My name is Richard Anagnos and I'm from Delos." After that, I can see all the girls blushing and looking at him like he was a celebrity. And I can feel that Richard liked the attention
Throughout the class, I kept on thinking about what our teacher just said. Olympus was destroyed by the giants and the not so Olympians have fallen. Could it be true? I mean why do we still offer or pray to the gods when they are not here anymore? Was it true? Have the mighty and all-powerful Olympians been defeated?
I chose to not believe everything she said and will ask my mother about it.
Thankfully, more than half an hour later, our class was dismissed and I quickly and excitedly exited the classroom.
“Hey, Donna!”
I looked behind me and saw Richard chasing me which made me stop walking in the school corridor.
“Do you want to eat lunch together later?” He asked.
“Uh I’m not sure, I usually eat lunch alone.”
“Well, first time for everything right?” He said.
I was surprised at how surprisingly nice and friendly he has been to me, I never really had any friends growing up because having my mother around and caring for me all the time is already enough for me which was odd for a teenager like me.
“I’m sorry but I’m not sure, how about next time?”
“Sure, but if you need me, you can always approach me.” He said as he walked towards his other friends.
I continued walking in the corridor until I reached the restroom.
There was a wide long trough sink and wide mirror in front of it, behind the sink were the cubicles. The tiles are all white.
It looked like no one was in the restroom beside me. I went to the bathroom sink to wash my face.
I looked at my reflection in the mirror, looking at my medium-length curly brown hair, dark brown almond-shaped eyes, small heart-shaped lips, and tan skin.

“How could I be like this on my first day?” I asked myself.
As I was about to exit the restroom when all of a sudden I heard a woman whispering.
“I hate her already, I can’t wait to give her a failing grade.”
I was taken aback. Is that Ms. Argos?
Carefully, I walked silently to hear their conversation more closely.
“I know, A few more days and you will have more company. We just need you to make sure that everything that we shall do here will run smoothly and inconspicuously.” The voice replied.
“We will, I shall make sure of that.” Ms. Argos replied.
I was shocked. What were they talking about? What does this have to do about me?
I can hear Ms. Argos about to leave the cubicle so I swiftly exited the restroom.
In the school corridor, everyone was now in their respective classroom for their second-period class.
Fantastic, I’m late again. I grabbed my class schedule from my blue backpack and checked what I have for the second period. It was Archery.
When I found out that Archery was one of my subjects, I smiled. I feel a special connection between me and that sport.
Excitedly, I went to where our class will be held.
Once I arrived, there were already warming up. “You’re late.” My teacher said as she approached me.
I apologized sincerely to her, I had a feeling that maybe she will embarrass me in front of my classmates as Ms. Argos did but thankfully she is kind.
“I’ll let it pass, but please as much as possible don’t do it again.” She replied.
I reassured her that it won’t happen again and she told me to join my classmates in warming up.
While I was stretching, I heard someone approach me.
“It’s nice to see you again.”
