Chapter 1

Being a parent is the best job in the world, to be blessed with a child is wonderful. Most people would do anything just to see their sweet baby successful in life, doing anything it takes. Working extra jobs and put themselves through pain only to pay for an all-girls private boarding school.

But what If I tell you that none of that is worth it? And you’re putting yourself through unnecessary pain for nothing. Private boarding school is just where rich doctors or lawyers think sending their ungrateful children away to a boarding school for 9-10 months will make them realize how the real world is going to be.

Most people think that all-girls schools are full of lesbians, which you’re kind of right. I mean, nobody is out of the closet but why else would you pick all girls? They mostly just go after the male teachers.

Don’t get me wrong, sometimes it does work. But most of the time, it doesn’t. They just behave terribly and get no punishment for it. Most teachers are scared of these high schoolers and what their parents could do to them.

“Venus!” I hear my English teacher, Miss Griffon, raising her voice slightly at me.

I pick my head up from my desk and look straight at her, with a little question written on my face.

“Did you hear what I asked you?” She says, glaring at me slightly.

“No, I’m sorry,” I tell her.

“Stay here after class.” She says but this time anger is all over her face.

She continues with her lesson, something about a Romeo and Juliet assignment

.

Miss Griffin has always hated me for some reason, I never did anything wrong at this school. I was the perfect student who showed up to class early, got straight A’s, and usually paid attention in class.

I didn’t care about her thoughts on me though. She was just a supply who took over Mr. Andrew’s class because he broke his leg during class one day. He was trying to reach something from a top shelf while standing on his wheelie chair. As expected, the chair slid from his weight and he came tumbling down causing him to break his leg.

Sometimes I wonder if they choose the right people in charge of us.

When the bell rang, everyone started packing up and rushing out of the room, pushing and shoving. We only had five minutes to get to our next class, which seems like tons of time but it’s not when your school is around the same size as the one in Harry Potter.

“Come to my desk,” Miss Griffin tells me.

I rise from my seat and pull down my blue, plaid school skirt and walk towards her desk.

“Are you doing alright, Venus? Your grades are starting to go down and you’re not paying much attention in this class.”

“Yeah, everything is fine. Just stress and that’s all.”

“Okay, if you need anybody to talk to, I’m here.” She tells me with a smile on her face.

I smile back and nod at her.

I quickly walk out of her room, almost running down the hallway to my next class. I was probably going to be late, for the first time this year. I have 2 minutes to walk to the other side of the school.

I start running to avoid being late for my next class but accidentally run into someone, causing us to crash to the ground.

“I’m so sor-”

“Of course, it’s you, Venus. Why am I not surprised?”

I recognize that voice, it’s no one other than Paris White. She was the “popular” girl at school, everybody wanted to be like her. I had no idea why though. She had dirty blonde hair with blue eyes, nothing overly special about her.

As I picked myself up from the ground, Paris did the same thing. I notice there was a girl who I didn’t know, watching us. She seemed to be waiting for Paris.

I looked over at her and noticed how young she looked. She was a freshman. I looked at the clear, round glasses that covered her dark brown eyes. Her hair blonde hair was in a ponytail.

“Hey Paris, how are you?” I ask her while grinning.

She just rolled her eyes and scoffed.

“Are you going to introduce us, Paris?” the girl next to her, asks. Her voice was sweet.

“I guess. Venus, this is Harmony. She’s a new student so I’m giving her a tour around the school and showing her what clubs and sports teams she can join. Harmony, this is Venus Ziegler. She’s the captain on the soccer team and vice president of the student council.”

“Nice to meet you,” I say to Harmony with a smile.

“You too." She asks me. I really couldn’t read her, her face was emotionless.

“Let’s get on with the tour now. Venus you aren’t even supposed to be here.”

“I thought rolling your skirt that high was against the dress code,” I say while looking down at her skirt. She has it rolled up halfway up her thighs.

She scoffed and grabbed Harmony’s arm to walk away.

I figured I was too late to even get to my last class of the day, I was already 6 minutes late and was still on the other side of the school. So, I just walk to the closest washroom to ditch.

My school doesn’t call your parents when you skip class because most people come from everywhere and their parents don’t care. Instead, once they take attendance and one person who didn’t get excused from class is not there, the security dudes walk around the school looking for the kids. If you get caught then it’s detention, but if you don’t then oh well. Nothing happens.

I walk into the furthest stall from the door and sit on the toilet, pants on and everything. I lift my feet off the floor and start reading the things people have written on the wall.

—-------------------

After the final class ended, I started walking back to my dorm room but saw the headmistress, Mrs. Taylor. She isn’t too bad, most people are frightened of her. She was a short, older lady who took no excuses at all.

“Hey Venus, come here.” She calls for me at the bottom of the steps.

“Yes, Mrs?” I ask her.

“You might not know but we’re getting a new grade 12 history teacher. She’ll be staying here in the dorms and it’ll be down your wing. When she gets here, could you direct her to her room?”

“Of course."

History class is incredibly boring. It was an older lady teaching it, she would often break down whenever anyone stressed her out The girls here were ruthless, It was crazy.

Mrs. Taylor smiles at me and points towards the dorm houses.

I’m surprised we’re getting a young teacher if I’m honest. Last year, we got a twenty-something-year-old, male teacher. But he got fired because he got accused of sleeping with some of the senior girls.

I walk into the dorm building and go towards the elevators. I was on floor 4, which is referred to as wing 400. Since there were a lot of kids at my school, there were two buildings of dorm rooms with a ton of floors.

One or two teachers stay on each floor to wake up people in the mornings and make sure nobody leaves the building after hours.

As I reach my room, it’s the one closest to the “hall monitor” is what everybody calls them. Which is very risky when I sneak out to go to parties or to go for a walk. I haven’t been caught yet, but I know it’s a big punishment if you are.

I walk inside and start working on my homework while waiting for my roommate, Skylar to get here.

Skylar and I have been roommates since tenth grade and we’ve become pretty good friends since then. We tell each other pretty much everything.

I hear the door unlock and Skylar walks into our average size dorm room.

“Hey,” I say to her while she sets her bag down.

“Did you see the new girl? She’s a total babe.” She says while smirking.

Skylar is out of the closest lesbian, nobody says anything about it which makes me rethink the positives of this school.

“I ran into her and Paris today”

“Ew Paris. I heard she’s trying to get with Mr. Campbell”

“Isn’t he married with like two kids?” I say grossed out.

“Probably, you know how Paris is”

“I wonder how the new teacher will be”

“Yeah, me too. I hope she can handle everybody. I’m going to feel bad if she can’t”

“You should probably go see if she's here yet, Mrs. TayTay said she’s close,” Skylar says.

I grab my jacket without changing out of my school uniform and take the elevator down to the first floor.

I see a black Range Rover pull up and I knew it was her.

As she parks her car, she steps out and walks to her trunk to get her stuff.

“Do you need any help?” I ask her.

“No, I’m fine.” She says. Her voice has a little rasp in it.

I look up at her, she was pretty tall. She was wearing black high heels already but if I had to guess, she’s around 5’8 or 5’9. She had long black hair which made her green eyes stand out. She looks young.

I showed her to her room. No words were exchanged at all.

—------------------------

“She sounds hot by what you’re saying,” Skylar says while doing that stupid smirk again.

“How? She seems scary” I say back to her

“She’s probably part of the mafia or something,” She says while laughing.

“That’s not even funny to joke about,” I say, not smiling at all.

“Yeah yeah, Abrelle Daniels is having a party tonight, wanna go check it out?”

“Yeah whatever,” I say while turning my attention back to my homework.

—----------------------

I throw on the first things I can find off the floor, which are baggy jeans and just a plain white t-shirt. Lame, I know. I hate going to parties.

Skylar was all dressed up, in a blue sparkly dress that hugged her body perfectly.

She grabbed my hand and gave me the signal to walk out the door.

We both looked both ways to make sure nobody saw or heard us leaving our floor and saw nothing down the dark hallway.

Abrelle’s parties were usually the talk of the whole school afterward. No matter what, they were always enjoyable.

As we walked down the hallway to the elevator on the other side, I heard footsteps from behind us.

Shit.

They were getting louder and louder which meant whoever it was, was getting closer to us.

Out of all the times we snuck out, this has never happened before.

The footsteps just stopped, I had no idea where the person would be right now.

In a flash, Skylar and I were caught in a beam of light.

I turned around and look up to see those same green eyes from earlier.
