Chapter 1

Mi's PO

I don't like mornings at all especially after partying. No I am no rich kid spending my parent's money (Well It's my personal choice, could've been rich). This is my job. I am a DJ

The headache, the foul smell coming from mouth after drowning my stomach with alcohol everything makes me feel guilty. But it is the part of my job and drinks, well they are bonuses.

Woke up to this throbbing headache and now my stomach is growling too.

"Morning Mi, you want a grilled cheese sandwich?" Sara said eyeing me up and down to which I smiled. Smiles are considered as a yes in the Arabs.

She's my childhood bestie. we grew up together and moved to Vestes city for better future opportunities. We used to live in al ain, a small city.

It shares the borders of Cuba and Arabato. So we have both the cultures here. The bold white people of Cuba and the traditional Arabic people. I guess I am both.

People that live in border cities are versatile, we were used to tourists visiting us, and that sparked our mutual inte crest in Hospitality industry. Its been six months of us living in Vestes, the central city of Cuba and I kid you not, it is very expensive.

"I left your sandwich on the kitchen counter, move your ass and eat there. better not leave any crumbs here." She said rolling her emerald green eyes.

She's a full Arab, born and raised here. Whereas me, I am half Vestesian and half Arab. My dad was Arab and my mother was white. I don't know much about her. Just the fact that she left my dad and went back to her country for her career in music.

I got up, and instantly felt dizzy. I heard noises from the TV lounge.

"where are you going?" I yelled from my room

"Job interview princess, someone has to bring the money; no?" she said sarcastically. I had to walk over to the TV lounge to see what she meant.

"But, I have a job!!!" I said raising a brow.

"Yeah, a DJ? is that even a job? we came here for something big and stable" She said rolling her eyes again.

"girl, its been only a few months. We will figure something out" I said hugging her from behind while she was tying her shoelaces. "Ugh Mina, It's already really hot today." She said annoyed. I get it. She has a temper but she works and clean the mess I create. She's a clean freak and I am total opposite of her.

I grabbed a big bite of the sandwich and took my phone out of the charging port. She must have charged it for me. I am lucky.

*2 missed calls from Jonah, the club manager*

Why was she calling me at 3am? I called back and she picked up.

"Mi, heyyyy. I was calling to tell you I have a gig for you, if you're free today?" She said making me excited but sarcastic

"I work for you, girl. You know my schedule." I laughed and almost choked on the cheese.

"You can work for this super rich man today. I don't mind. I will have 5% of what you get. Deal?" she said. I work 3 days a week in this club and make enough money to last me a month.

"I am in. text me the time and location." I said before hanging up

You must be thinking this is unfair, right? giving a share of the money I earn? well, this is how life is in big cities like Vestes. We do business in everything.

I decided to get in shower after working out a bit. Put on a white floral sundress and Ta-DA, I am ready for some strolling. Peeked into the fridge to realize that we are out of groceries.

I made a list of items and saved it in my notes app. Quick texted Sarah if she needed anything.

It's always crowded here. I made my way to the Vegetable section and picked fresh tomatoes as instructed by her highness, Sarah.

"Get the small ones, they taste better." A very hot guy in black t-shirt and blue ripped denim said and I stared at him longer than usual. He was gorgeous. And mixed, like me.

"was just saying." He said smiling after noticing me staring at him like an idiot and I came back to my senses

"No, yeah you are right. My friend says the same." I smiled back. awkwardly.

"You're not from around here, are you?" He asked me carefully looking at me. I can see him noticing me. His grey eyes piercing through my soul.

"Yeah, moved here a couple months ago. For work. You?" The conversation kept getting longer and I wasn't suppose to talk to a stranger this long. Something about him was extremely intimidating. He was giving major alpha male vibes. I kinda avoid such men. Not my type.

Back in my hometown especially in my family, these kinda males were everywhere.

"I am born here. if you don't mind, can we hang out sometimes, I live nearby." He said, playfully licking his lips. I felt an electrical sensation in me. And it was quickly replaced by my fear of male entities.

"Well, sure but right now, I gotta go, sorry. I am a lil late" I walked quickly to the cash counter. I could sense his gaze over me making me uncomfortable. It was weird of me to even behave like that. if it was someone from the club, i would have behaved differently that's for sure. I rushed to my car.

I was checking my phone in car when I heard a knock on my car's window.

"Yeah?" I said pushing the window button

"There's a guy in store, he told me to give you this." The guy from parking lot said while handing me some kinda paper.

It was his contact card. CEO, lavish hotels.

"Thanks." I smiled and quickly closed the mirror. My phone started ringing.

"Yes Jonah?" I said putting my seat belts on.

"Can you go there a little early? They need help with some equipment" She said

"Sure, i'll be there in an hour" I said hanging up.

---

It would be awkward to dress up for the night in evening so I decided to make a bag of everything I'd be needing.

I had a separate DJ case that remains in my car at all times. Didn't have to worry about the real stuff. just clothes. I put a little makeup on just to add on to my features. Chocolate brown lip color, some tint on my cheeks and I am good to go.

Perks of being a mixed individual, I get to look different and thanks to my genes I am pretty. I thought to myself while looking in the mirror.
