Prologue
“Meet me at the old cabin up the trail, at 3:30pm okay? I’ll be waiting for you there I swear.” He said, holding her soft delicate hands in his rough ones. “But what if he catches me? I don’t want him to hurt you Ezra.” She said, her small voice cracking from holding back the tears in her eyes.
“Don’t worry Sophie, he can’t do anything to me. No matter what he won’t find you, I’ll make sure of it” he said, smiling down at her as he brought her hands up to his lips. Kissing them lightly he looked around the open grove making sure that they were indeed alone this time. “I have to get everything ready but I will be there I promise.” He said, stepping away from her just before he dropped her hands she gripped his tightly; “You better keep your promise, and I’ll keep mine. I will meet you there I swear it.” She said, letting his hands go and leaping into his arms as he caught her.
Kissing him like it’ll be her last she rested her forehead against his staring deep into his black eyes. “I love you Ezra Hale.” A smile coved his face as he looked at her hazel eyes with so much love that he sketched her to his memory like he’s done so many times before. “I love you too Sophie Mendoza, always and forever.” Putting her down he leaned down kissing her once more before letting her run off foray back towards camp. Taking a deep breath he stood there a bit longer looking in the direction she took off in still smiling that loving smile…
