Chapter 1
Aisha 's POV.
It's late evening and I am supposed to reach home early today...but, I'm still stuck at office. My mom is going to be really angry at me cause I promised her that I'll be back early before the 'special guests' arrive at home. I don't know what mom is going to do if I'd not reach home on time. I'm going to be kicked out of my house today.
'Oh God please help me'! I was praying in my mind.
"Ms. Aisha Verma? What are you dreaming in your head? Did you finish the work I assigned you?"
l snapped out of my thoughts when I heard my boss 'Mr. Rajeev Malhotra' who called out my name in a very angry tone.
"Yes! Boss....I am almost done". I said nervously.
He looked at me strangely, trying to read my face. I gathered some courage and asked him again.
"Boss please can you excuse me for today? I promise to do up the rest of the work by tomorrow morning and present it to you on your table before you enter the office".
I showed him my puppy eyes and a little pout hoping he would leave me.
"May I know the reason behind you leaving early today Ms. Verma? Also, last week I think you left before time". He asked me sarcastically.
I was battling within my mind whether to tell him the real reason or not......
"See, I can very clearly say that the past few days you are not looking well to me and I'm sure there is something going on which I'm not aware of. And you know I'm not leaving you alone until you tell me everything in detail". And dare you lie to me? or else you know the consequences!". He said in a very stern voice.
I gasped and thought for a moment if I lie to him he'll definitely find out and if I tell him 'the truth! he'll freak out. I again got interrupted in my thought.
"Cupcake? What's wrong with you? You look tence! Please tell me what's the matter?"
Now he asked in a concerning voice and his eyes were narrow and soft.
(if you are thinking why is he suddenly talking to me so sweetly? as just a second ago he was barking at me? It's because he knows me from the 'age of six' and we both are best friends from childhood may be more then best friends. But, 'not lovers', and Yeah! he is married. Apparently his wife happenes to be my cousin sister Preeti. We three are best of friends since we were small kids and then as we grew up they both fell in love and eight years back he proposed her and she said 'Yes' so then they got married. Now they even have a seven year old son named 'Gurav'. So yeah, that's the story behind his sweet behaviour')
Not wanting to 'lie' I looked up at him where he was standing across my cubicle and I was sitting on my chair. I blinked twice, I gasped some air and said.
"Momhasseensomeboyformeandisaaidyess".....
I said it in a breath and in a whisper.
"What? repeat, I didn't hear you". He said and came closer to me.
I inhaled deeply again and gathered some courage and said it again but, this 'time clearly',
"Mom has seen a boy for me and I said yes to meet him so he and his family are coming home to see me today".
I said and closed my eyes waiting for his reaction as I was sure he would 'explode right' now and I was hell scared.
There was a 'second of silence'.
Until he held my arm, dragging me to his cabin. He slammed me onto the huge glass 'desk' causing the paper wait to fall on the ground by my hand hitting it. He even banged the door so loudly.
I composed my self and stood up straight and turned to face him ready for his harsh words to come out. But, he stood there still without saying or doing anything just staring at me with those big green eyes of his and then he finally spoke.
"So, You were planning to tell me on the day of your wedding, right?" He asked in a sarcastic tone.
"No! not at all you know me well Raj! I would never do such a thing".
I said with sad and moist eyes.
"Then what was taking you so long? What were you waiting for?"
He asked loudly.
I sighed and spoke again."See, buddy I am really sorry for not informing you earlier but trust me I was not going to 'hide' it from you. How could I even hide this big thing from you? I was just waiting for the right time!"
He kept looking at me with anger.
"And this is..... I'm sure this will also 'not work out' like the others and you also know why? So, I just did not want to bother you". I tried to explain myself.
"Now are you going to tell me everything or are you still planning to tell me when you sit beside your so-called groom in your reception?" He mocked me again.
I huffed and rolled my eyes at him and then started telling him everything.
So, 'Mom and Dad' went to the mall few months ago and 'bumped' into some of their 'old college friend' and then apparently that person spoke about their son whom they are looking for a 'bride' and so 'my parents' insisted them about 'me' and.. I was cut by him.
"Wait! you just said that they are going to come home today? 'That means they know about you fully and have no issues with it?"
He asked in a doubtful tone.
"Yes they do!. I'm also shocked that those people have agreed...but, still I don't 'believe it' until I meet this guy and get things cleared properly".
I said in a monotone.
"You know what to do! so please don't do anything that you will regret later it's not only about your life alone this time". He said looking at me seriously.
"Yes Raj!!! I very well know what to do. I'm not 'stupid' and past seven years I'm just...
And we got 'interrupted' by his phone ringing... He sighed and picked it up.. it was from 'his wife' means 'my sister'. Once he was done he came towards me and pulled me into a 'tight hug'.
"If anything goes wrong I'm just a call away and this time if anyone tells you anything I'm not letting you stay in that house for even a single second. 'Mark my words I'll kill every one of them may it be for your parents too". He said in a 'dangerous tone'.
I was taken back for a second then came back to sense when he placed a 'kiss on my forehead'.
"I promise, I will handle everything you don't need to worry. Now may I go? or Mom will surely kill me if I'm late." I said with a small chuckle.
He nodded and then I gave him a last hug and pecked his cheeks and left in a hurry.
