Chapter 1

the pedal pressed down firm to the floor

unchaining the imprisoned sound;

of a slow,

remembered duet

a vacant piano bench roared of memories

the piano extinguished silence

as the fractured notes deafen

piano strings hum a fragmented song

hammering them

echoed by the ghost

the liberated music

filled by

distraught,

age old rage

softens the orbiting noise

raining notedrops wash

empty music staffs

artistry drips out the pianist’s

wrinkly, withered hands

tools of golden glory and splendor

leaving the elder animating his loss

a silent linger echoed

tension births jaded strings

depleted and tired

the cornerstone retrogresses into feebleness

coils snap under the pressure

embraced it’s coda

leaving the pianist

to soak in silence

deficiency of sound

is overwhelming

living in icy isolation

so the pianist

concludes his song

and his life
