The Dance

A rainy night, I saw all different reactions one lady ran to shelter as if Lava was falling. A man besides her walked in a peaceful motion, he soaked it up wearing the brightest smile, similar to a person who just found God. I wondered whether he imagined each drop contained gold or magic such was the way he embraced the rain. The overwhelming majority moved in dead silence nothing notable happened for the next few minutes.

Seeking isolation, I separated myself from all and turned a corner and with luck I came across a neat path. A couple damaged streetlights provided some glow. A fraction of light shined on an abandoned building; curiosity pinched my mind, so I approached tenderly getting nearer more details appeared. Several windows were barred by blocks of wood, but two windows unbelievably stood untouched by anything besides specks of dust.

Not expecting any noise, I jumped out my skin when I heard a Piano. Confused I looked everywhere trying to locate this mysterious sound. Suddenly I realised I wasn’t alone laughter and repeated steps played amongst the music. Overcome with pure desperation I darted towards the two blurry windows hoping to find the answer to all.

There I witnessed the most heavenly sight, a man and a woman dancing under a lightbulb. Her dressed in red and him in blue. They tangled like flames, her legs swayed in every direction yet in a completely controlled motion, he truly dazzled in blue. The wind of a hurricane couldn’t have removed his hands or eyes from her body. Him tight and she free as a bird, both moved at such a swift pace everything near me floated comparably to a feather. A sense of reality hit me when I pressed my face on the window, ancient floorboards completely scarred by past occupations. Heavily cracked walls that looked smashed by a thousand hammers. The Piano sound reappeared fuzzier than before. I scoured across the floor and saw a small radio, The room was dressed in misery yet the two moved without any sadness or struggle, for music and love can take anyone anywhere.

Time skipped, I had to be elsewhere, so I decided to wave goodbye to the couple who put unequivocal beauty in my ordinary life.
