The Fallen Supe - (Short Story)
It was a bright and sunny day in the city of Iowa. The trees were blooming, and the grass was scattered with colorful leaves. Not a thing could go wrong in this city, right? Well, you’re wrong. Just amid a protest taking place in the downtown area of Sioux City, a mass shooting was being planned. The protestors were chanting and demanding change as the shooters prepped their weapons and sat on the roofs of buildings. “We want change! We want change!” The people chanted, waving signs and their hands in the air. Ironically, the protest was stating how guns should be banned. But the shooters had other ideas in mind. “You got eyes on them?” Shooter 1 spoke. “Yeah, I see about 70 of them.” Shooter 2 replied, fixing his scope. Just as Shooter 1 placed his finger on the trigger, he heard a loud scream from down below. “Huh?” He looked down and saw a mass shooting taking place. Blood and screams quickly filled the streets.
“What the hell is going on down there?” Shooter 1 asked. There was no response. He looked through his scope and over to the other building to see his friend was dead. Two holes were engraved in his skull, right where his eyes should be. “Oh no...” He whispered. Then, a loud thud emerged from behind him. Shooter 1 shakily turned to see a Supe. It was Deacon, the leader of the world-famous Superhero team “Marauders,” and the strongest Supe of all. “D-Deacon...?” The man stammered. Although Deacon was a 15-year-old kid, he was tall and seemed menacing. “Hey! What are you doing?” Deacon asked, eyeing the gun. “I-I w-w-was j-just going to l-leave...” The Shooter laughed nervously. “You sure? Because it seemed like you were about to shoot some poor civilians down there.” Deacon chuckled. “We cannot have that. Can we?” Deacon asked.
The man stammered and eyed the Supe. Deacon had a slim, red, and black suit. A symbol on his chest with two swords covering a red emblem. His blonde hair was gelled and slicked back, one or two strands hanging down on one side. He had bright blue eyes and red gloves. His cape was black with red dots scattered all about. This man, or...kid, was the face of all superheroes in the world. “Now, why don’t we just back away from the gun, and we’ll be perfectly fine.” Deacon smirked. The Shooter stood tall and approached Deacon, leaving the gun behind. “Good.” As the man pleaded to be let go, promising he would never do it again, Deacon scoffed. “You know, you humans are...way too sensitive. You guys really should show some follow through, you know?” The Shooter raised an eyebrow and slowly reached for a handgun. “Oh no you don’t.” Deacon’s eyes began to glow and white beams of energy shot at the gun, melting it. “Ah!” The Shooter screamed in agony as it melted with his body.
“Holy shit, you people are annoying.” Deacon spoke before he shot the man through the skull with his lasers, slicing his head open. Boiling blood bubbled and leaked down, dripping to the ground. “Deacon, any news on those roofed Gunmen?” A voice asked through an earpiece. “Yes, Navy, I got them. They are in handcuffs.” Deacon groaned, looking at the dead body. Navy was the co-captain of Marauders, a superhero from the year 1940. Nobody but Deacon and Volt knew this information about Navy. “That’s funny because I’m pretty sure if he was in handcuffs, he wouldn’t have his head sliced in half.” Deacon groaned and turned to see Navy standing behind him.
Navy, or Timothy, that being his real name, approached Deacon and sighed. “What the fuck are you doing?” Navy asked, approaching him. Navy wore a tactical military suit. It was navy blue and black, with a diamond emblem made from steel. He had bright blue gloves with little spikes covering each knuckle, and a shield in the shape of a ruby gemstone. It was navy blue with black stripes. He had chestnut brown hair that was swooped over. He had green eyes, and a beard, a noticeably short beard. His voice was deep and always monotone, adding to his formal personality. Deacon raspberried and shrugged. “They were like this when I got here. Some fucking suicide attempt probably.” He chuckled. Navy sighed and tightened his shield. “Do you know how fucked we’ll be if people found out you murdered every person we supposedly arrested?” The soldier asked. Deacon shrugged and looked down at the crowd; police flooded the streets as Volt and another Supe held the shooters down. “Hunter, you must think about this shit. You cannot go around killing people!” Navy yelled.
“You better watch your fucking tone, Tim.” Deacon growled, his eyes beginning to glow a bright white. Navy stood his ground and scoffed. “You’re a fucking pussy. You won’t kill me. You need me. I’m what keeps your team alive.” Navy said, keeping a straight face. Deacon sighed and his face twitched. “I am the face of superheroes. I am a god compared to those...insects.” Deacon growled. Navy smacked his lips and raised his eyebrows. “Well, we’ll see how well people take it after they see their lovable hero is some murderer.” Navy turned to walk away. Deacon was full of anger, his eyes still glowing white. Then, he shot his laser eyes at Navy, but they were deflected with the shield. “Don’t try it!” Navy said, blocking the laser eyes. Deacon’s lasers then vanished, his eyes returning to normal.
Deacon let out a heavy sigh and looked down at the dead body. “We’ll say it’s collateral. M’kay?” Deacon then flew high into the sky, vanishing in the blink of an eye. “Fuckin asshole.” Navy said as he entered a stairwell leading down to the ground. Meanwhile, down on the streets, the officers and paramedics tended to the situation while news anchors arrived and began to question the two Supes who were present. Volt and Snipe. Volt had short black hair, wore a yellow and orange suit, covered in conductive material to help focus his powers, and wore a helmet with a red visor. He sported two orange gloves with black finger pads. Snipe had a matte black and crimson suit. He had heavy padding on his suit.
He had long brown hair that was in a braid, sort of like how a Viking would have their hair. He was armed with swords, knives, guns, and more. He had a medieval-like mask with spikes at the bottom, covering the face mask portion of the helmet. “Snipe, can you tell us what happened?” A news anchor asked. “No questions please.” Snipe said, walking away. “Snipe, we would like your input!” Another anchor shouted. Volt stepped in front of the anchors and chuckled nervously. “Snipe is um, a bit upset today! Let’s give the guy some space!” Volt spoke, angering the news anchors. Snipe got on his motorcycle and drove off while Volt ran off in a flash, leaving huge gusts of wind in his tracks.
At the Marauder’s headquarters, Deacon took a seat, staring out the large window that sat above the large city. Footsteps emerged as he heard a door slam from behind him. “What the fuck do you want, Volt?” He asked. “S-Sir, have you seen the-” Deacon raised his hand, signaling Volt to zip it. “Please, call me Hunter. After all we have been friends for years. Right, Evan?” Deacon chuckled. Volt sighed and looked to his left. There was a cardboard box resting on the glass table. “W-What’s that?” Volt gulped. Deacon shrugged and turned to face the window once again. “So, Evan, what brought you in here?” He asked. “Well, I was wanting to show you this.” Deacon turned and grabbed a tablet Volt had handed to him.
He looked at the screen and was greeted with a livestream protesting for Supes to be abolished. “What’s this?” Deacon asked. “The people in Des Moines are wanting all Supes to be abolished from the country.” Volt chuckled nervously. Deacon smacked his lips and set the tablet on the table. “Is this live?” He asked. Volt nodded and put his hands on his hips. Deacon’s face twitched. He nodded and walked closer to Volt. “Come here, come here.” He gestured. Volt hesitantly walked closer to Deacon, gulping. He then tightly gripped Volt’s neck, lifting him off the ground. “You show this to me instead of deciding to handle it?” Deacon growled, his eyes glowing a bright white. “Do I need to handle everything?!” Volt tried to speak but couldn’t due to difficulty breathing.
Deacon let go of Volt and exited the room, entering a hallway full of people. “Out of my way!” Deacon shouted. People quickly moved to the side as he entered an elevator. “Mother fucker!” He shouted as the doors closed. Deacon exited the building and flew off in the sky, shocking people. “Navy! Navy, answer me damnit!” He activated his earpiece and called Navy, hoping for an answer. “What the fuck do you want, Hunter?” Navy asked. “Are you seeing the shit in Des Moines? People are protesting!” Deacon said, anger growing in his voice, his eyes still bright white. “Yeah, I’ve seen it. Who gives a fuck?” Navy asked.
“This cannot happen! What if congress takes legal action against us?! What will I do?!” Deacon shouted. “I don’t fucking know. I know I’ll be happy for the early retirement. You though? Figure it out.” Navy said. “You don’t understand! My reputation will be down the drain! The fucking drain!” Deacon exclaimed. “Then figure out, you selfish fuck.” Navy hung up the call, leaving an angered Deacon flying. “Old fuck can’t even think straight.” He whispered to himself. He flew faster, hoping to reach the protesters in time.
Deacon arrived at Des Moines and landed in the center of a small town, crowded with people protesting him and other Supes. “Get out of here, Supe!” A woman shouted. “Hey guys! What’s going on?” Deacon shouted, grabbing the attention of everyone. They all began to boo him, yelling at him to leave, go away, and even die. “Why don’t we all calm down, and talk about this, okay?” He shouted. A woman threw a cup of coffee at him, angering him even more. He looked down at her, his face began twitching and his eyes began to glow again.
Get off the-” The shouting woman was silenced as Deacon sliced her in half with his laser eyes. “Fucking insect.” He whispered. The woman’s two halves fell to the ground. Blood squirted everywhere; guts collapsed to the hot concrete ground. Everyone went quiet as they witnessed the gory surprise. “Did...did you just kill her?!” A man shouted from afar. Then, everyone began screaming, throwing stuff at Deacon as his anger grew, his eyes glowing brighter. “Get away!” A woman screamed. Deacon decided he had enough of this and began killing everyone in sight, slicing them in halves, verticals, and tons of pieces. He had a huge yet evil grin on his face, showing this was fun to him. Very fun.
“All of you fucking bugs! Standing up to a god like me?!” Deacon laughed manically as blood poured down onto the streets, sizzling in the hot weather. Just as Deacon finished off the last person, he was struck with lightning. He was thrown to the ground, hitting his head, which didn’t hurt him. “What the...fuck?” He looked up and saw Volt, Snipe, and Navy. “What the fuck did you do?” Navy asked calmly. Deacon chuckled. “I got rid of them! All of them! I managed to save our reputation!” He said, wheezing. Volt pulled out his phone and showed that the livestream from earlier was...still on. “You mean our reputation? Not yours.” Navy chuckled, approaching Deacon. “Like I said from before, what happens once people learn that you’re a murderer?” He asked.
Deacon growled and shot his laser eyes at them, but Navy blocked them and threw his shield at Deacon’s face, disorienting him. “Fuck!” Deacon shouted. He looked up and was met with a punch from Navy, knocking him back. “You fight for your own well-being! I fight for honor, and justice!” Navy shouted as he picked up his shield, tightening in around his arm. “You’re an old fuck from a war I could’ve won easily!” Deacon shouted, grinning. Navybegan to breathe heavily, growing angry. “The fuck did you say?” He asked. “You heard me. I could’ve killed all those Nazi’s. I wouldn’t have been knocked out and put in ice.” Deacon huffed. Navy’s hands began to glow, a bright orange hue shining through his palms. “Fuck you, Hunter.” Navy growled. He then raised his hands and produced a loud blast of energy, sending a shockwave through the area, knocking everyone down.
Snipe pulled his swords out, Volt stood his ground, electricity coursing through his veins, and Navy stood still, watching Deacon get up. “That...now that was a mistake.” He chuckled, popping his neck. “No, it was a warning.” Navy ran at Deacon and punched him in the face. Deacon grabbed Navy and slammed him into the ground. “I am a god compared to you!” Deacon shouted, his hair messy and his eyes still glowing. “We’ll see about that.” Volt whispered as he struck Deacon down with beams of lightning. Deacon shot at Volt who teleported behind him and struck him with lightning again.
Snipe ran at Deacon and slashed his face. No cuts were made so he threw his swords down and punched the Supe, making him angrier. “Come on, Drake! Hurry up!” Volt shouted. “It’s...not working!” Snipe replied. Deacon smiled angrily and shot Snipe with his lasers, sending him back. Snipe yelled in pain as he looked to see two holes burned into his chest. “You’re going to die!” He yelled. Deacon let out an angered yell and turned to face Volt. Before he could teleport, Deacon shot him with his lasers and grabbed him by the neck. “Fucking prick.” Deacon whispered before slamming Volt’s face against his knee, breaking his nose.
Navy sat up and charged the unaware Deacon, climbing onto his back and hitting him in the face with the shield. Deacon yelled and grabbed Navy, throwing him down and stomping on his chest. “You will die beneath the foot of a god!” Deacon smiled like a maniac as he applied more pressure. Navy strained with anger, trying to remove Deacon’s foot off his chest. “No more tricks.” Deacon whispered. As he applied more pressure, he heard cracking. He began to laugh, soon shifting to maniacal laughter. “You will d-” Deacon was silenced as he was knocked back, hitting the ground. He groaned in pain, looking down at his chest. There was smoke emerging from two holes. “No...” He growled.
“Hunter!” A loud voice yelled. Deacon stood up and looked up. “Fury...” He whispered, growling. Fury landed on the ground, his eyes glowing a bright blue. His suit was composed of steel and fabric. He had a tight yellow and black suit, the suit being all yellow with black stripes reaching from his shoulders to his waist. His boots were black with yellow spikes at the ends. His gloves were yellow with black fingertips, and finally, his cape was black with yellow stripes in a diagonal pattern. He had short, reddish hair and green eyes. Fury was the only other Supe with laser vision. “What are you doing?” Fury asked, his eyes dimming. “Taking care of these fucking pests, what’s it look like?” Deacon asked.
“It looks like you’re killing a bunch of innocent people, Hunter.” He replied. “Brayden? Come on, innocent? Look at that one, with the missing chest. She’s clearly a racist.” Deacon pointed to a person who was torn in half. Fury sighed and looked at Deacon who was smiling. “You can’t do this, Hunter. You’re not a villain!” He shouted. Deacon snapped back. “I’m a hero! A hero who knows what the people want! And they want people like them gone!” Deacon yelled. Volt and Snipe got up, Navy stood tall and tightened his shield. “Well Deacon, instead of giving them what they want. We’re going to give them what they need. A world without you.” Navy said, preparing to fight. “Alright then. Give them what they need.” Deacon smiled as his eyes began to glow white. Fury’s eyes emitted a bright blue light. “Let’s do this.” He growled.
