Chapter 1
SHANÈ
"There" I say after tying the last balloon. Tomorrow I'm finally opening my floral shop so I've been busy with some preparations.
"The work won't get done on its own" I say to Sunshine who is my PA. "Sorry ma'am but this chocolate is too good" she says opening another one. Sunshine was my friend from Primary and she needed a job so I hired her, she is a hard worker but you can't separate her with chocolate.
"The plants need your sunshine" I say laughing and she rolls her eyes and stands up as she puts the chocolate away.
"Where is Ethan? He needs to hang the balloons as I can't climb the ladder and your ankle is injured he is always late..." Before I can finish what I'm saying I feel a hug from behind. " Complaining about me?" Ethan says with a smirk on his face. " I went to the caterers to check the food" he says
"Hey that was my job" Sunshine says with a frown. " I figured you would finish all the food so I went instead did I do anything wrong Shanè?" He says " People please stop it let's get the work done tomorrow is near and Sunshine you were munching on Chocolates just a minute ago so thank you Ethan for sorting that out, now please can you guys wrap up and lock I need to go to my mom. " I say with an annoyed tone. "Fine boss" Sunshine says with a smirk.
I know it's funny but I only have two employees Sunshine and Ethan. Ethan is a salesman, Sunshine is my PA and organises meetings for me and she also will be helping Ethan with sales. I took a loan from the bank as I did not want any help from my parents I know everyone probably thinks I'm a spoiled brat who gets everything she wants but I'm very independent. I studied business back at college and now I'm slowly progressing into a business woman. I'm so happy that I managed to kick start my shop.
I also invest in some businesses by using the money my parents give me but I never used the money from my parents for my business. I call an uber and drive home.
"Mom, I'm here" I say as I place two pies and two fruit juices on the kitchen counter. "How is the shop hunny are you all set for tomorrow" she says while giving me a hug and sitting down. "Yes everything is set Ethan and Sunshine will wrap up" I say while biting my pie " Is your outfit ready?" mom asks
"I'm sure it will be delivered soon by the designer, did you call the make up artist?" I say to mom " Yes and you should rest plus I have something important to tell you after tomorrow" she says. " I wonder what it is" I say with no glimpse of excitement because I know what it means when they use the word "important" because last time they used that word I was asked to work on my career and stop relaxing so that I can be financially independent
The door opens and Lilly walks in. Lilly is my best friend and her parents live next door but she moved out last month to stay at some flat. We've been friends since childhood she also happens to be a bartender my dad was always worried about keeping her in my circle he thought it was not good for me but I'm starting a floral shop and I'm done with school so I guess thats something.
"I'm sleeping here tonight" Lilly sits next to me "Okay but you girls need to rest tonight don't stay up late I'll go and prepare dinner" mom says while standing up and hands Lilly her juice which she hasn't opened
" Girl I'm so happy for you" she says and hands me strawberry yoghurt
"Thank you" I say as I hug her
"Shouldn't you be at work" I ask
" No I'm off because I happen to be attending my best friends opening" she says
"Thank you for your support friend" I say
"I hope everything works out as planned and nothing goes wrong"
