The Revelation
You see, humans eventually became a destructive species, though they had once been united with their planet, and with each achievement came greater destruction of their home, which they called Mother Earth. Never wavering, never faltering from their path of profitable destruction even when all of their science told them the consequences about their actions, they pillaged and plundered, and denied growth for the Human species. It was evident to all other beings who had observed the Human’s behavior that they were not going to last long in this Universe, not very long at all.
There was a time when they had reached a technological middle ground, if you will, a time when they were balanced, working and living off the land enough with just enough technology to achieve the job of surviving and keep connected with their planet. Had they kept true to this path, their species would have thrived for a millennia, at least. They had advanced quickly for such a young species. Granted, their advances unfortunately came at the expense of other species, domestic and unfamiliar. Humans were fearful, impulsive, and as mentioned, destructive, so when they began encountering otherworldly visitors, their first reactions were to attack. (Oh, I won’t bother with the details of how they achieved these attacks. It’s quite, quite ugly. Ugly business, indeed. Perhaps later in the story.) As a result of their attacks, they were able to attain new technology and elements, which lead to premature technological advancement too quick for proper understanding and discipline over the technology, and more swift detachment from the planet, leading to more destruction for the sake of greed, power; all the while clamoring to make weapons from their newly acquired technology capable to defend their planet, leading to neglect of the growth of the species.
Unfortunately, one particular species, if they can be referred to as such, observed this behavior and after receiving intelligence the Humans were developing attempts to leave Earth, when they had destroyed their home planet and achieved little in the way of improving themselves, these beings took fate into their own “hands”. Where other species saw the insignificant Human’s behavior and decided to leave them to their inevitable demise, especially after seeing their attacks on other beings—again, both foreign and domestic—with little to no evidence of hostility or making any attempt to make peace beforehand, this species decided to make use of the Humans as the Humans had made use of their planet.
Thus, The Revelation. The utmost chaotic period in Human History. Further proof of Human’s destructive nature. When The Revelation occurred the majority of Human’s turned on each other, beginning civil wars based on fear, in short. But for the Humans they were based on what they called “religion”: the undying belief of an all knowing Supreme Being and/or their subjects, battles for resources, and weapons. Many portions of Earth’s habitants tried their best to survive and endure, but the warring across the rest of the Earth was consequently unavoidable for them. Two decades prior, the population of the human race was already absolutely unsustainable at 8 billion inhabitants. The Revelation occurred in the year of 2049, according to the Human’s keeping of Time, when the population had miraculously reached over 10 billion. Famine had, by that time, been ravaging the Humans beyond the likes they had experienced in decades prior. Couple that with the Revelation Wars that followed, only half of Earth’s population survived. Or so it had been reported.
