"Why don't you just quit and stick to your night job?"
I looked at my friend Zoey and shrugged. "To hide it I guess."
"You are making bank selling your photos. Each photo is like what... 30 each?"
"Depends on what kind we are talking about."
Zoey laughed. "Regardless, I don't blame them. You're too hot to resist."
Suddenly, my phone vibrated, and I saw a message from my sister. OMG, Kris!!! Call me!
"Who is it?"
"Tess."
Zoey scowled. "What would she want?"
Shrugging, I called my sister, and she answered on the second ring. "Kris, guess what?"
"What is it now?"
"I'm engaged!"
"You're what?"
"You heard me! I'm coming home for a month so you guys can meet him."
"Did you tell mom and dad yet?"
"No, not yet."
"You're only 20, Tess."
"And? What about it?"
"How old is he?"
"He is going to be 40."
"He is a lot older than you."
"Kris, I'm not a baby anymore."
"Not when he's almost 40. Dad's going to flip his shit when he finds out."
"That's what lying is for."
"Lying always catches up to you, Tess."
"You are going to love him, he is so amazing!"
"What's his name?"
"Brett. See you tonight!"
"Tonight?"
"We got an early flight, see you later!"
After Tess hung up, I looked at Zoey. "I can't believe she's engaged."
Zoey shook her head. "That girl isn't happy unless she has a guy wrapped around her finger."
"She's been like this for years."
"Poor guy."
"I know right? It will be interesting to see how long the guy will put up with her high maintenance and bossiness."
"Well, let me know how it goes."
I looked at clothes in my closet until I found a pair of short jean shorts and a simple t-shirt. "They better not expect me to dress nice."
Zoey laughed. "We are talking about your parents, Kris. We both know how laid back they are."
"True, well... see you tomorrow."
"Call me later?"
"Of course."
I got in my car and sighed. This is going to be a very interesting evening to say the least.
