Chapter 1

Background

I was 2 years old when my parents got divorsed and i had to go with my mom at the time because i was so young.
Through that time we constantly ran in the middle of the night from different men until she met the man she is married to now...

Present

I am now 18 years old it is christmas time in Minnesota snowing outside and I'm in the mall looking for last minute presents for my family,

the mall is packed with stressed moms and screaming kids

I look at the sight infront of me and I feel a headache brewing.

After countless hours of walking around this huge mall I still come up empty handed and I decide to go to the food court in need of food

I sit down and order some Mcdeez, after a whole day waisted I decide to just go home defeated

As I walk to the exit doors suddenly this child jumps out of fricking nowhere infront of me and i feel my body swinging as I try to avoid the child

I know I'm gonna connect with the floor now

And all of a sudden a hand wraps around my arm and I get pulled and I collide with a hard chest.

It takes me a second to come to and collect my thoughts

And I hear a deep English accent yell

"Watch where you are going you little brat"

As I look up into deep blue eyes staring at me with the brightest smile, and I'm still in his arms

I take a step back and he speaks again

"Are you okay?"

I stare at him and suddenly break eye contact and look down to my feet before I take a breath and say

"Yes thank you"

He takes my chin and lifts my head and we make eye contact again

For a moment it's quiet and he smiles again before saying

"I'm glad, I'm Brycen by the way"

I force a smile back and finally say

"I'm McKayleigh, nice to meet you"

His hand is still on me and I jump back after a series of flashbacks going through my mind and he looks at me confused I smile and say again

"Anyway it's late I should get going"

And I don't give him a chance to speak and I turn around and head towards the big glass door and as I push it open the cold December air hits my warm face and I start to shiver I make my way to my car and I sit there for a moment collecting my thoughts.

After 5 minutes of wondering what the hell just happened I turn on the car and head home

...................

As I pull into the driveway I see a car that I don't know I pull in and lock my car.

As I walk up to the front door I hear my mom and her husband laugh along with voices I don't know.

I walk through the door and as I enter the living room I see an elderly couple sit on the couch and my mom looks at me and smiles.

She then says

"Mac here you are we have been waiting for you all day I want you to meet our oldest friends from school days this is Mr and Mrs Clifford they just moved in a few houses down from England"

She smiles her most fakest smile I've ever seen.

I look at them and smile and greet politely, my mom turns as I hear footsteps from the corridor as I turn my eyes meet those blue pools infront of me.

It's HIM..........
