Amanda’s dreadful welcome back

Amanda was lying under the big oak tree in the back garden. This summer was so hot, she thought. She touched her forehead to wipe away her sweaty fringe.

-Definitely too hot- she mumbled, stretching her arm towards crown of the tree and circle twice with her small palm. A ubunch of green leafs started to dancing in front of her face making a nice breeze across her body. She smiled and closed her eyes.

Slowly drifted away she thought about the way she ended up things with Mike. All those drama, it wasn't worth it. She must focus now, not let the power overtake her. This is why she came here. She needs her aunties and she needs to learn from them, otherwise she will end up just like them - a bit crazy with five cats. She make a soft lough and let herself fall asleep.

Her short nap brake a cat jumping around and trying to catch one of the oak leafs. Amanda opened one eye - what did I ever do to you, Luna. Stop jumping on my head- she moaned. Feeling dizzy from the heat she slowly got herself upright. Looking around with her eyes half open she thought she caught a glimpse of someone standing on the other side of the road. Or maybe it was just a sun reflection playing tricks on her.

- Amanda, aren't you going to work, purrr- a little kitten said while making her final jump on a mission to collect all of the dancing leafs.

- Damn it, I am gonna be late - She runs up the big oak stairs towards her room at the first floor. The room was spacious but a bit cluttered. Amanda wasn't great at keeping her room in a spotless condition what makes aunt Linda crazy every time she enter and sees a pile of clothes on her bed. -If you spend more time studying The Grimoire you would know a spell to clean it up, my Dear- Linda once said making a point that Amanda knew was true. She grabbed one of her old jeans from her bed. They were nice and tight on a bum and with straight, slightly loose legs. Her t-shirt from before was saying "You're going to Hufflepuff -Deal with it" and decided to leave it on she put on her white sneekers and rushed down the stairs.

- Oh, Amanda sweetie, are you heading to town?- Aunt Linda asked while stroking one of the cat on the table - would you mind to give it to Mayer Lockwood? - she swing her hand and a small jewelry box appear in Amanda's hand.

- Sure, but what is it?- Amanda opened the red velvet box that reveled a big, oval shaped necklace with an emerald stone - it is..

- So tacky - Penny appeared in the kitchen door unexpectedly making Amanda jump.

- It is Blakewell's family heirloom - Linda answered making an disappointed face at her little sister. Penny and Amanda shear a small laugh.

- I thought our family heirloom is the ring you gave me for my 16th birthday, last year- Amanda raised her hand showing a beautiful half inch wide gold band with an amethyst stone in the middle and small diamonds surrounding it.

- Oh Honey, when you'll live as long as our family does, you'll end up with all sorts of crap. Starting with that amazing ring, which I myself found in Versailles Palace at one of Marie Antoinette party, and let me tell you she wasn't an angel if you know what I mean...- she said proudly while Linda rolled her eyes.

- What Penny want to say, is that we have a lot of family treasures that sometimes we need to use in ordinary way, like this bowl- she point at cat's water bowl in the corner of the kitchen.

- Oh wow, I should be more careful with stuff I pick for garage sale- Amanda said looking at it with amusement - and why exactly are we giving it away, and to the council as well?- she finished with a puzzled face.

- Oh no, no, we are just lending it to the council so they can pretend they can do witchy stuff to safe the world- Penny answered with a wide smile making her sister furrow her eyebrows.

- Don't listen to her, it is very powerful but it won't do any damage since we both will be there keeping an eye on it- she give Penny an warning look.

- Great, and I thought we are going there for food and booze- Penny shake her head with dejected face.

- Ok, I better go then- Amanda felt it was a right time to make an escape since she felt this can end up with a bit of an sisters argument and she was already late for work.

Walking in The Grill she spot Bonnie at the bar speaking with Matt. She head straight to the back door tying an apron on her waist. The place was quite empty at the moment, few locals drinking bear and playing pool. She took her little notebook and approach one of the lonely table at the back. There was a new face for her.

- Hi, can I get you anything- she say softly with a small polite smile, just the way it always make her tip jar full. Now, being face to face with a stranger she notice how handsome he was. A jet black hair and deep blue eyes. He must have been around 25's she thought.

- Yes, Amanda- he read her name tag with bored smirk on his face- double scotch, love.

Oh crap, I am blushing- she thought.

- Sure, double scotch right away- can I get more lame? She felt her chicks burning and her ginger fringe getting a bit wet from her forehead. She quickly moved away thanking god Matt's brake was over.

- Matty -she make a sweet pleading voice- could you get that to the guy over there? I have to go to the toilet.

- Haven't you just come in?- he make an investigating tone

-Yup, but you know, ladies days- she answer quickly and shrug her shoulders.

Matt grabbed the tray feeling defeated and walk away to the table in the corner.

-Oh gosh, full moon and a hot guy is not a good combination- she rinsed her face with a cool water. She looks up to see her reflection in the mirror. Her face slowly come back to her normal olive tone. Suddenly Amanda felt tight knot in her stomach and her vision got blurry. She grabbed edge of the sink with shaking hands and closed her eyes. Now, she could see the same guy that right now was sitting in The Grill. He was arguing with another man. Younger one with a blonde hair and fair skin. -Damon, you have to give her up or someone will get hurt and it will probably be her- a blond one said pointing finger at her. She wasn't sure if they could see her or he was just making a gesture. They both was dressed up in a suit and Amanda recognize room they were in. It was Lockwood's mansion. -Ah Stefan, always wants to make my life miserable, are you jealous or something?- he said with a smirk on his face while sipping some sort of alcohol from a glass. -Now leave me alone as I have a date I need to attend- he moved quickly towards the door but Stefan grabbed a letter knife from desk and stubbed him in the back. -Urgh this is just stupid- he laugh under his nose and tried to reach the knife from his back. Amanda scream but she couldn't be heard. At this moment she open her eyes finding herself lying on the floor under the sink. -What the hell- she said to herself. She never had such an intense vision. Now, was it a vision or a premonition. Should she warn him that someone will try to kill him.. She felt her head spinning around. - Visions and premonition, there must be something in The Grimoire, for now just focus about the work- she whisper pulling herself up.

-Amanda are you ok?- Bonnie looked at her sweaty face and messy hair.

-Oh Bonnie, no, no I am fine. You know, it's 'those days' and I just feel everything so intense.- She try to calm her down although she was a bit scared herself. She couldn't exactly explain what happened. What would she say- oh Bonnie it's just a nature influence on fairies- she chuckled in her mind and start to fixing her hair.

-I think you should maybe go home today. Let me speak with Matt and I can cover you today.- Bonnie said with concern.

-Bonnie, you are a terrible waitress- Amanda said with a wide smile- really, I am ok, just a bit tired from all the heat - she explain waiving her hand in "not to worries gesture". As a fairy Amanda felt all of the nature's extremities so the weather was a big influence on her but she couldn't said it to her friend. Keeping a secret like this wasn't easy for Amanda but she has some experience already.

She returned to the bar where she spot raven hair guy gazing at her with squints eyes. She felt shiver on her spine and decide she will just avoid him for now. The day at work passed quickly as more and more locals come in for a refreshments. When time reach 4pm she felt relieved. She tossed her apron in her bag and left the bar. All shift she couldn't stop thinking abut that guy and a knife that might soon end up in his back.

In her bedroom Amanda open wide closet door. A skinny cargo pants and a cropped blush hoodie will be just fine for a bonfire party. She put her hair up in a messy bun and swipe her fringe to the side. -Cute and comfy- she said to herself while grabbing her camera from bed.

-I am going out- she shout to the aunties while walking down the stairs but there were no reply. Entering the kitchen she spot a note on the counter. "Honey, we are going to the council party, will be back before midnight and If we won't find you in your bed consider yourself grounded.

Ps. Now, have fun and try not to kill anybody- full moon warning. Kisses " she read the note rising her brow. She knew first part was a reasonable aunt Linda and other one was Penny's. They were just a right balance which Amanda appreciate. If she needed help with homework or a spell she would ask for help Linda and for any fashion problems and gossips she would go strait to Penny.

Bonfire was the last summer party before going back to school so most of Mystic Falls kids has show up. When Amanda reach edge of the forest it was already pretty crowded. -Great, being a dwarf is not a piece of cake- she said in her mind and chuckle a bit, trying to see above the crowd to spot her friends. She was just 5 ft tall and sometimes it really could be a pain in the ass.

-Wanna beer?- she felt someone's hand on her shoulder.

-Tyler, Hi. Sure- she reply briefly still looking around for girls. -Have you seen Bonnie or Elena?

-Somewhere, around- he said with a bit of irritation in his voice. Amanda noticed he become a bit rough sometimes. Both of her aunties was a regular at council meetings so Amanda used to spent quite a lot of time in Lockwood's mansion. Her and Tyler used to be quite a good friends then. They used to watch bunch of scary movies together, eat pizza and once smoke some weed witch later they've been grounded for a whole month.

-What's up Ty?- she said looking up at him. It was clear that he was a bit nervous and try to tell her something really hard.

-Amanda, uhh, I thought you never come back and you know I just thought we could speak about us- he mumbled rubbing back of his neck with his hand.

-Tyler, I don't know what there is to say. I mean, there is no us-she say lowering her voice but just, so he could clearly hear her- we kissed a bit two years ago, you slept like with half of Mystic Falls cheerleader squad - it came more harsh than she wanted but she knew she has to be straight with him. In a corner of her eye she spot same guy from before. Was he eavesdropping, or was it just her imagination she couldn't say. Tyler's face fall dull, he clinched his jaw and walk away leaving Amanda with uncomfortable knot in her stomach. This conversation wasn't something she would expect but still hoping to save the evening she drink last drop of the beer and head to Elena, that was standing on the other side of bonfire.

-I see you can use some more- Elena pass her a full bottle of beer with worried face - should I ask what was that about?

-Thanks- she sip a cold beverage feeling a shiver across her body - I would want to know myself. I guess a blast from the past - she reply and both laughed. Elena, Bonnie and Caroline was a good friends with Amanda and keep in touch after she moved away. After Elena's parents past away she cast a charm hoping it will help her get through the worst but looks like she found a better way to keep her mind off it. Caroline was keeping her in a loop about all the gossips and she knew Elena found someone she totally fallen for.

-You know, El I feel there is so much I missed last year.- she point her bottle at Caroline flirting with Matt. She definitely changed a lot and in a good way she thought - she looks so much more confident now.- Amanda finished her beer and point camera at them. It's gonna be a nice one, intimate moment around a crowd of a drunk teenagers, she smirked and press tiny button.

-Oh, this is Stefan-Elena say with her soft voice introducing guy that appear next to her.

Amanda lower her camera and looked up at Elena's boyfriend. In that moment she felt hot and cold waves inside her body. This was the blond dude from her vision. The one with the knife. She start to feel a panic attack approaching her head. -Calm down you idiot, it's probably just your imagination and a full moon playing with you- she said in her mind.

-Hi- she couldn't find anything else to say to him. Stefan looked at her with tilted head and a soft smile. He definitely looked like a nice guy, but the vision was so vivid in Amanda's head. She try to avoid eye contact and looked away to the moon.

-I thought I met all of Elena's friends already.- he said softly.

-I come back after three years living with my dad in San Francisco. But still, it hurts you haven't say a word about me- she pointed her finger at Elena making a judging gesture.- Amanda try to be her normal self in front of him at least for now. She decided she will labeled todays vision as "the future problem" and just try to have at least a bit of fun.

Elena smiled at her boyfriend - you know last year was just so crazy- she said apologetically. They share a look, which Amanda thought there must be something more than just them two fooling around all year. They spoke for another half an hour and Amanda decide she will take off. It was almost 11pm and she needed to get home before her aunts get back from council meeting.

Going back to her car she runs into Bonnie. They spoke for awhile making a plans to catch up the next day. Bonnie promised she will explain her how she started to date Jeremy, Elena's brother. Amanda felt a bit left out now, so much has changed and she feels like she doesn't belong anymore. She felt a drop of a rain falls on her cheek. Now she rushed through the bushes toward her car. Driving through the night she played night crowler in her cd. Finally she felt relaxed.

Her aunts Victorian house was on the edge of the town. She passed sherif Forbes station and Bonnie's house. She looked to the side and spot Elena with guy from The Grill. They spoke on the porch both looked nervous. Suddenly Elena moved closer to him, grabbed his neck and gave him a passionate kiss. Amanda felt sick. -What the hell- she said to herself, her grip tighten on the steering wheel. Now she wanted to get home as fast as possible pressing gas pedal harder than usual.

Amanda threw her bag on the bed with more force that she usually do. - Gosh, why am I so pissed...- she sighed nervously. -Looks like not only Caroline has changed. Playing with two toys at a time is so not like Elena I know...- she said with a low voice dropping her bag on her bed.

- Or you knew..- a low voice reply.

- I told you Rocky to not sleep on my bed, shuuu- she tossed a towel on a grey cat that was stretching on quilted throw that her mom made. She loves that throw, it was made with all different fabric scraps that her mom used for her dresses. There were a lot of pink and the edges was finished with cream fluffy ruffles.

- I am just saying, there were a lot of drama over here last year, miau- he said with mysterious tone in his voice. Rocky jumped on a dresser and start to lick his pawn. He was a big gray and white cat that loves to wonder around and gather all Mystic Falls dirty secrets.

- Hah, are you gonna teasing me with some new gossips?

- Gossips? Now I feel offended! I just keep my eye on this town, you know council isn't exactly keen on supernatural creatures..- he said with a low voice and sort of a cat smile

- Oh sure, I forgot you're such a solicitude person, upss I meant cat - she said with a crooked smile. - Now, leave or I'll tell Linda you brake your diet and it was you, who ate the last jar of Nutella.

- You're such a squealer- he reply and jump out through the window.

Amanda felt her temples starts to throb. She noticed a big raven sat on a nearby tree. As a fairy she feels a close connection to all sort of animals but this one seems a bit odd she thought. - I would be careful If I were you, there are cats here that may want to hunt you down little birdie- she shuts down her window and pulled curtains together. She climbed on the bed and under the quilt. After such an eventfull day she fell asleep instantly.
