Prologue

The cool blade of his sword flashed. As if in slow motion, I saw it coming towards me.

I knew I had to fight back, not allow myself to be hit, but I still staggered back from the successfully parried hit earlier. There was no chance. The weight of his punch had made it impossible for me to keep up with his speed.

A numbness spread through my body as the sword slowly buried itself in me.

Was that it? My End?

My mind went blank as I looked at the blood running down my body.

His stab had left an unbearable chill. A sense of betrayal, shattered hope. This injury was far more than just physical. I never would have thought it would come to this.

I looked into his icy, expressionless eyes. Until the last moment I had hoped that everything would go back the way it was back then. But nothing would ever be the same again.

It was us who lost. My gaze wandered over the field, everything went so slowly.

The day of my death shouldn't be this one, nor any other's here. I knew it was probably too late for me, but maybe not for them. We had been so foolish, not expecting that there were so many of them and especially that they were so strong.

"Retreat!" I yelled with the last of my strength, knowing they agreed. They were all nearing the end.

My eyes fell back on him one last time. His strike had hit and he knew exactly that nothing more was needed, I could read that on his face. In the same face where I once saw warmth. In the face that now showed me nothing but contempt.

I die... by him...

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...
