My Mind & Me

What the Word says,

and my mind relays,

are two very different things.

While God says I am fearfully and wonderfully made,

the latter makes me think my beauty has been made to fade.

God says you’re so pretty,

my mind says people would never want to look like me.

Abba says I am a confident me,

But I live in social anxiety.

Philippians 4:13,

But my mind says I can’t achieve many things.

It holds me back

And even just writing this was a rather hard task.

I make mistakes and God says it’s okay,

But my mind says stay away, He doesn’t want you,

And it’s sad that most times I believe too.

“Refrain from anger and forsake wrath!…”

But the voice says tit for tat

and lets me go on a warpath,

It deserts me after.

But God comforts me

and brings back my laughter.

I could go on and on,

And tell you how the voice loves to drag me down for fun.

Give to God what belongs to God and to Caesar what belongs to Caesar,

But now, I have become a full-time people pleaser.

People lord over me and I do their biddings,

Despite all their many evil reasons.

Yes, I know it’s bad and quite sad,

But look at all the friends it brought.

They all eventually left,

But for a while, I didn’t experience lonely thoughts.

God says He’s with me and with him, i’ll have salvation

He says I don't need people, just Him.

But my mind condemns me and tells me only about eternal damnation.

My faith gets shaken and I begin to think I’m for the Grim…Reaper.

My mind can be very exhausting,

But I hold on knowing one day i’ll overcome all this.

And although I may not be begotten,

God loves me and tells me that I am still His.
