Her

Her

He had seen her at Appalachian Trail shelters in group settings. She was easily 20 years his senior with laugh lines to prove it. She was quiet and seemed content to sit around the periphery of whatever was going on. For a woman her age, striking would appropriately describe her but a bit of “cute” had to be thrown in as well. What he noticed most about her was her obvious attention to being well kept. Although understandably practical, she didn’t crop her hair as most thru-hiker girls did. Her hair was jet black, straight, with a flip as it just hit her shoulders. It was well brushed. She wore a scarf that looked more like an accent piece than the typical bandana worn by a pirate. Her clothes seemed coordinated, not just practical. He never had a real opportunity or desire to speak to her. She was, after all, just another hiker.
