Summary

A short book of poems, written about my struggle with Borderline Personality Disorder and Depression. Five years ago, I suffered a nervous breakdown, due to the end of my long-term relationship with the father of my four children. I was admitted to a psychiatric hospital, after several suicide attempts and was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. It was at this point that my relationship with poetry began. I use poetry as an outlet for my emotional struggle. Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a disorder of mood and how a person interacts with others. It's the most commonly recognised personality disorder. In general, someone with a personality disorder will differ significantly from an average person in terms of how he or she thinks, perceives, feels or relates to others.

Poem 1

Hatched a she with unknown blight

Who thought it fine to feel with might

To rage with fire and frenzied flail

A life that ends a sorry tale

As she watched and ached to be

A myriad of somebody

With all the secrets she betrayed

Along with all the words she gave

Contrite, blushing and ashamed

A malady that’s never tamed

But a venom will erase

And disintegrate impending days
