Bystander
I woke up to the sound of my alarm and rubbed my eyes as I slammed the snooze button. Shivers rush through my veins and I get goosebumps as my feet hit the stone cold floor. I groan as I crack my neck, already dreading the day. As I put on my uniform, I trip back onto the bed and just lay there until my snooze time turns back on as my alarm goes back on. "Okay! I'm up!" I yell as I unplug the alarm. I then eat some cereal while watching tv. After that I pack my bag and do my makeup. Then I brush my teeth, praying that I'm not a target today. I run to the bus stop just in time and sit by my best friend. As we walk into school, I'm already upset. Among the sea of students in the tan hallways, I spot her, Olivia. I then head the other way but she follows. "Hey Maddi!" she says. My name is Madison but she called me that when we used to be friends. I'd rather she not call me that since she's the reason of me snapping rubber bands on my wrists. I ask her what she wants and she says that she wanted to say hey. I knew that was a white lie. She's Olivia she always finds a way to bother you and get you to trust her so she can exaggerate everything you tell her to other people and so she can spread rumors. I then see in the corner of my eye that her friends are watching so I'm careful with what I say. On the other side of the hall, a boy with glasses is getting his book sack yanked on over and over by some boy. I want to stand up for him but I'm too big of a target already, so I don't. I just stand there, hoping that he'll show him who's boss one day. Then the school bell rings.
