PROLOGUE
June 30th, a village was raided by the soldiers of the Royal palace in the kingdom of Betherhelm. Rumors spread that the village was the hometown of witches that happened to be heard by the king from one of his royal subjects. He ordered his army to kill everyone who lives from the rumored village and never leave anyone behind. Children, women nor elders, the king doesn't care as long as the accused persons die. "Charge! ", the general of the army yelled raising his sword preparing for battle. The soldiers who holds torches used it for burning the houses killing the people inside. " Major Lichienstein! Go to the woods and check if there are scapees hiding there", the general said ordering one of the majors.
"Yes Sir, right away!", Lichienstein said running towards the direction where the general pointed. Lichienstein saw two teens hiding between some bushes. "Stop right there. Don't move!". They started running away from the soldier. "Come back here!" Lichienstein shouted but they didn't listen. "I swear I'm gonna cut off your balls.", he said grabbing the boy. He turned around and found the girl with long blonde hair in the tree beside him with a wooden sword in her hand. " Let go of my brother! ", she yelled charging at Lichienstein. The latter quickly dodged the blow and grabbed the girl pulling her back making her drop her sword falling down on the ground. He unsheated his sword pointing at the girl. He tried to kill her but couldn't, why? That's because he can't kill innocent kids just because of a rumor. The soldier tried to stab the girl again then dropped the sword sweating hard while his hands where shaking. 'I can't do this. That old man! just because he's the king doesn't mean he could order everyone around. Since the day he ruled the kingdom, corruption has surrounded the kingdom ', the major thought.
"What's wrong?", asked the boy sitting next to Lichienstein who noticed the soldiers that has been lost in his thoughts. "Nothing". Lichienstein tried to cover up. He grabbed his sword and went back to his horse. " Go hide. The others might come here to back me up. I'll tell the general that I found nothing. Now I must bid farewell and good luck. I'm just sparing you two but I will not help you", the major sai before riding away leaving the scared teens alone. Little did he know that the girl had followed him and rode to their ship unnoticed by the soldiers after finishing their mission. The ship headed to the capital where the castle resides. After the ship entered the harbor, the knights started to leave while the girl was waiting for the right moment to leave the ship. "What yer kid doin hereβ, an old man said who was behind the girl. She was shocked. She had been found. The girl couldn't move from where she is standing and turned around staring at the old man in complete horror. 'Now what! ', the girl was deep in her thoughts. She was devastated that her promise to her little brother was broken. The promise to avenge her friends and families are now just a dream. She even left her twin sibling alone in the village on an isolated island. She then dropped her knees waiting for the old man to call some soldier to finish her. The old man just stood there looking at the teenager. He knew that the girl was a survivor of the massacre judging by her appearance and facial expressions after him finding her. " Ye go outside now, lady. The soldiers left a while ago. Er also have to clean me filthy ship", the old man said giving the girl a hood. The teen gave him a shocked expression with confusion. "You won't tell them?",the woman asked not understanding what the old man just did. 'Why?Is he planning to do something?Will he call the soldiers after I go outside for me to get caught easily?!'the girl thought not trusting the old man. " Ye think I'm such monster! I'm just a sailor not a servant of yer king. I just need money for mi travels around the sea that's why I give ye soldiers a ride home",the old sailor said with a calm tone in his voice. The girl quickly ran outside and bowed at the old man. "T-thank you! I promise I'll pay you back for what you've done! You saved me!'' the girl said bowing deeply. The old man waved her hand and smiled at the girl showing his rotten teeth. " I'll be waiting for ye err-". The girl smiled at the old man, "Liebe. My name is Liebe Van Der Kaiser." She waved back and left disappearing in the crowd.
