"I would not categorize this book in the genre of romance, unless you mean how Slate feels for his father and siblings. And the storyline moves incredibly slowly. Additionally, I really disliked the whole disfigurement of the male lead. It was totally unnecessary and the author seemed to try to justify why he let someone permanently scar and disfigure him. Who would allow someone to do that, especially if the character was not guilty of anything other than self defense. It would have been more effective to advocate for mental health therapy."
