Love stories have no downfalls. No matter how many times you read, you will never get bored. Since it has deeply penetrated everyone’s mind. It will not perish at any time. What is love? Who do we fall for? Why do we fall? No one has the answers for these. Love is the base for all. That is what drives all lives. Love has been the driving force behind a man since the beginning of time.
This fiction ‘A one-week love story’ is narrated through a girl. Jennifer is the protagonist. This fiction is about her search for love and perception. Usually, the stories we read have a male standpoint. Cinemas too picturize the same. What does love look like from a female standpoint? What do her expectations look like? How does her pain look? How does her happiness look? ‘SHE’ speaks out everything in this fiction ‘A one-week love story’.
It doesn’t matter for a man and woman to talk about love from their perspectives. But, this fiction is about a girl who tells a tale through a man’s pen. The characters in this fiction are Jennifer, Savita, Parthiban, Karthik, and Parthiban’s mother and father, you might definitely come across any one of these characters in your life. If it is true, this fiction ‘A one-week love story’ surely has a place in your heart.

Hi! This is Jennifer
The office was bustling. Seeing this made me bored. Colleagues were sincere in their work. Shankar, the Office Assistant, served tea and biscuits to every table. Anger in my mind as to how long I had been staring at the computer. Yet, I don’t get any response from him. Although I’m a girl, I proposed to him. But he has no regard for me. If he liked me, he would have said yes or no. After placing the tea and biscuits on my table, the Office Assistant looked at me and smiled.
Maybe he thought I wasn’t as pretty or as modern as other women. Just I’m wearing specs and I have some pimples on my face, that’s all. It makes me jealous to see couples riding on bikes on the roadsides. Oh, God! Do I request you anything big? A love. All I need is love, and I want to marry the person I love. But that little wish seems to go unfulfilled until the very end.
When I was studying in the tenth class, a boy in the twelfth class proposed to me through a letter. I refused the letter and scolded him harshly. I ran out of his sight whenever I saw him. Since I’ve fallen for another. He left the school before I could tell him I loved him. Maybe, it’s because of the boy’s curse who proposed to me, I’m still single. I yearned while hearing my college friends talking with their love on the phone.
One of my friends eloped with her boyfriend before completing her studies. Three years have passed. I have grabbed a job in this tech city and somehow run my life. Actually, is there any problem with me? Does everyone hate my quick temper? Am I not jovial to anyone? Still, I remember this. I must have accepted his proposal during my school days. Where is he? And what is he doing? Are the thoughts running through my mind?
“Hey, Jennifer. Stop floating in a dream in the early morning. Get into your work.” Said my colleague cum roommate, Savita.
“Not like that. Just some thoughts. Nothing other than that.” I coped up.
“Hey Jenny, I know you are tight-lipped, stuffing everything in your mind. You conveyed your love for Karthik, right? Did he respond to this?”
“No dude. It’s a must to say yes or no. But he doesn’t utter a word. Even I approached him without hesitation. No answers!”
“Firstly stop saying this word dude as boys do”.
“Most girls use this word dude, these times. So, I would call you like this” I said.
“He’s fallen for someone else. Maybe that’s why he doesn’t respond.”
“That I know. They were in love. Later, they moved apart after a fight. It’s been a year, she is married to someone else. He still thinks about her”.
“God! How do you know all these details?“.
“Dude. Shankar was the one who told me these things”.
“If so, he must have said ‘ok’ to you. But he doesn’t. So it means that he is still living with her memories” Savita said. But I was deafened and just thought that he might be hesitating.
“Ok.. Stop dreaming again. Maybe he just keeping you for backup it seems”.
“Hey.. You are talking too much. He is not a guy like that “.
“Already, he had lost his old love. Perhaps, someone else had proposed to him like you. That’s why he neither said yes nor no. Moreover, don’t believe the boys named Karthik. They look for many women at the same time, you idiot” Savita hit my head.
“My love is just a joke for you…?”
“Ok dear, resume dreaming. I got to do my work” Savita smiled.
“She’s always been this way. Hurting me is the full-time task for her”.
